Obama At Bon Jovi Event: 'We Won't Be Bullied'
Source: WCBS-TV

MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (AP) ― Unlike his Republican opponent, Democrat Barack Obama is still raising money for his presidential campaign, and he turned Friday to rock legend Jon Bon Jovi for help.

Bon Jovi and his wife, Dorothea, hosted more than 100 people for dinner on their mansion lawn by the Navesink River in Middletown, N.J. The price was $30,800 a person, to be divided between the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee

-----

Obama spoke for about eight minutes before greeting guests individually. He vowed to fight Republican attacks on his character and background more fiercely than John Kerry did in his losing campaign four years ago.

"We're not going to be bullied, we're not going to be smeared, we're not going to be lied about," Obama said. "I don't believe in coming in second."

2. Obama vows to fight fiercely, unlike Kerry
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 10:41 PM by provis99
Well, you've damn well slacked off so far, haven't you Barack? Why do Democrats every four years go through this charade of pretending to get tough, then acting like wusses, and getting totally blitzkrieged by the Republicans?

Fighting means you fight like a Chicago streetfighter, Obama! Take that gun to the knifefight already, because so far all you've done is wimp out!

7. That is what we need! Speak the freaking truth!
We need it! We have been waiting! I hope Bill and Hillary Clinton do too! I speak up almost everyday for the campaign ( I really have to watch it at times) I just cannot help myself if I hear the bullshit start!

9. The candidates could at least STOP PRAISING Palin and McCain
It looks weak and insincere- particualrly when all they've gotten in return (and all they will get) is derision.

15. Taking the High Road to Defeat
Democrats need to keep the Republicans on the defensive if they want to win.

When Democrats are on the defensive, they lose. Obama took a lot of punches without throwing any back and he may pay the price for that - not only in the polls, but also because the Republicans now think they can beat him up without worrying about counterattacks.

Hopefully Obama learned his lesson and he'll go on the offensive for the rest of the election season.

3. Hear that, people?
"We're not going to be bullied, we're not going to be smeared, we're not going to be lied about," Obama said. "I don't believe in coming in second."

As someone else brilliantly and graphically put it:

:woohoo:

4. stop blaming the Dems for failure to deal with sociopaths!
It takes time to learn how to deal with sub-humans whose behavior is so low as to be difficult to predict, seeing as it lacks all reference to human characteristics. It's like learning a new language.

They have studied the Rovian aliens for many years and have mapped out the behavior of this form of life systematically designed to extinguish human life. Rovots have been found to respond only to shame and humiliation. Their goal is to always keep a good offense going, so issues can never be discussed. Responding to this horrific attack on human life has taken years of practice....but

Obama and his team are ON it

and

WE WON'T BE FOOLED AGAIN

GOBAMA/BIDEN!!!

5. Interesting to note about Jon Bon Jovi

While I am not really a fan of his music (he's done some good songs though), isn't it interesting that he has been with the same women since high school and from everything I understand NOT ONCE has cheated on her...this despite living the rock n roll life of the 1980s, which I find utterly unbelievable.

Funny a guy with that kinda committment to a women and he's a Democrat. How is THAT for family values?

I thought we were all fornicators, gang bangers and transexual lesbian dog lovers.

6. With John Edwards I've learned not to assume anything
I was shocked when he did what he did. I thought that he was faithful and that he and Elizabeth had something that could withstand temptation. You never really know anything about someone, who they are privately. However it would be nice if it was true with Jon Bon and his wife but who's to say what his wife would accept and be happy with? Not my thing but everyone doesn't have to be like me. Regardless I certainly do appreciate his efforts. 30 Grand a piece? That's some cabbage!

8. And with Bon Jovi being the one man most women would do.. if he strayed.
Maybe it's his solid love of his wife that makes him so attractive to women.

11. Yeah, I'm not a fan, either
(Although those commercials for the Jersey Shore with his song get me every time!)

But everything I've ever heard says he's a really, really good guy.

13. I completely agree. And, I do confess to liking his music.
The reason he's so 'hot' to me is that he adores his wife. He's an active volunteer at his kids schools. Everything about him just resonates values and family.

12. Music to my EARS!
Don't take their shit, Don't allow them to spread their lies. In fact, I want to see an add called PANTS ON FIRE highlighting all of McCain's and Palin's lies.

14. The best Defense is a good Offense
It's going to take a lot more than just fighting back against Republican attacks to win this election.

Obama (or his surrogates) should be on the attack every minute of every day until the election. He needs to keep the Republicans on the defensive if he wants to win this.

Just "fighting back" means you are on the defensive. Take the fight to them and put them on the defensive.

17. Reading about Bon Jovi always reminds me of
a stupid Mom moment of mine that I'm going to share here.

Back in 1987, my 15 year old daughter asked me for some Bon Jovi for Christmas. I tell you, I looked and looked for that for her and couldn't find it! I apologized on Christmas day for not being able to find Bon Jovi perfume for her! Needless to say, she thought that was just hilarious. I had no idea I was supposed to be looking for music!
