Barack Obama's presidential campaign opened its Phoenix headquarters Wednesday, signaling, according to supporters, that Obama will challenge rival presidential candidate John McCain for votes in McCain's home state.

Democrats contend that Arizona is a battleground state, despite a series of surveys that indicate Arizona's fourth-term Republican senator holds a double-digit advantage against the first-term Democratic senator from Illinois.

For example, a survey of likely voters released by the North Carolina firm Public Policy Polling on Aug. 4 had McCain ahead 52 percent to 40 percent here. The firm typically works for Democratic candidates.

Still, Obama's operation is organizing "an army" of volunteers to register new voters, and to bring Obama's message to the masses through telephone and door-to-door campaigning, said state spokesman Dave Cieslak.

I've seen quite a few Obama bumper stickers here but strangely I haven't seen any for McCain yet.

5. I will
I really think Obama can take AZ especially if Napolitano helps and I'm sure she will. Also Hispanics here don't like McCain anymore since he flip flopped on immigration.
