Saudi judge favours killing TV-channel owners for obscenity
Source: CBC News

A senior judge in Saudi Arabia has declared on state radio that it is acceptable to kill owners of satellite TV channels that air immoral programs.

Sheikh Salih Ibn al-Luhaydan made the comment on Friday in response to a listener who asked his opinion about TV programs that feature scantily-clad women during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, according to BBC News.

Salih al-Luhaydan is chairman of the Saudi Supreme Judicial Council.

... "The owners of these channels are as guilty as those who watch them," said the sheikh. "It is legitimate to kill those who call for corruption if their evil can not be stopped by other penalties."

4. I can't endorse capital punishment
And "obscenity" has never satisfactorily been defined, so it would be dangerous to make it a life-or-death word anyway.

Still...

I'd like to see them strapped into those Clockwork Orange chairs for life, forced to watch those insipid "reality programs" that they keep airing. Of course, that would be cruel and unusual.

7. My thinking EXACTLY!
Anything objectionable (by Christian fanatic standards) will result in the network being siezed and then committed to broadcasting the 700 Club 24 hours a day.

8.  What they call obscene is rated PG in the US or most other western nations
They want us to be entertained by men singing about some guy named mohamad and his business adventures and a cat named alla who has an inferiority road rage complex as defined by those who know whats best for us.

Jerry Springer shows would end in a swift sudden death swing of a sword show..

Maybe parts of the US are willing to abide by such edicts....
Don't even consider defending Larry Flint in parts of Michigan

12. Please note as well, these particular Imams will shout about obcenity, but never remove the dish

I am quite serious.

11. Scary
that this mindset is allowed to exist in this day.

Our goal, as a species, ought to be to move away from the dark ages.

13. A Culture of Death ...
It is 'ok' to kill them .... as well as those who watch ....

Yes .... KILL KILL KILL ......

DEATH DEATH DEATH ......

You have to wonder about the human value of such a culture .... One that does not value human life above their own petty desires ....
