McCain aides: Obama 'cheerleading' market crisis
Source: AP

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Top aides to Republian John McCain are claiming Democrat Barack Obama and his advisers are exploiting Wall Street's financial problems for political gain.

Aide Steve Schmidt, who worked for the Bush-Cheney team in 2004, told reporters Thursday aboard McCain's plane that Obama is "cheerleading this crisis." He said McCain is seeking a bipartisan solution although Schmidt and aides Mark Salter and Nicole Wallace also said Democratic congressional leaders should be condemned for considering adjourning without addressing the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers, the sale of Merrill Lynch and the emergency government loan to insurer AIG.

The aides say the Arizona senator will make the same criticisms during his speeches.

9. ...
ack!

Look, two things to take into consideration here...Obama is rightly glad this shit is hitting the fan NOW, and not in January (though we all know these moves are just to prop things up till next year)..Obama and Biden can talk about the ISDUES for a truly corrupt and failed administration...so yea, I'm glad too

and I thought the congress dems could be in bad shape for the move to recess...but I also think about it this way:
"you made the mess, clean it up yourselves.." Those Rethugs will bluster and whine about the Dems going home, but they certainly won't fix a damn thing, because they DON"T KNOW HOW!

16. Maybe he's right.
Maybe congress ought to revisit the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act before they adjourn. Wouldn't that be patriotic? McCain is turning into an embarrassment.

23. Same tactic, different day
Whenever the inevitable consequences of the Right's policies catch up to it, they whine that the people who tried ot warn people was really for it all along.

So like in Iraq when anti-war people said there would be an increase in terrorism and lots more deaths if we invaded Iraq.

And The US invaded as terrorism increased and there were lots of deaths.... so naturally the right accused war opponents of being happy about that.

It's as if you see a guy running towards a cliff and you yell "Hey Dummy. Stop! There's a cliff there!". The fact you told him this doesnt' mean you are pro-cliff

And if this idiot ignores you and falls off the cliff and breaks his leg and you say"Told you there was a cliff there", that doesn't make you happy to see people breaking their legs by falling off cliffs.

There wouldn't have been a financial meltdown if guys like Gramm and McCain hadn't done what they did. But Republicans are so incapable of taking any responsibility for thier own actions that they think they can blame Obama for what the right has done.
