Live Earth show to help light homes with solar energy
Source: Reuters

MUMBAI, Sept 20 (Reuters) - India will host the next Live Earth concert to raise funds for lighting homes with solar energy in places where people do not have access to electricity, organisers said.

The December event will see U.S. rocker Jon Bon Jovi and Bollywood's biggest superstar, Amitabh Bachchan share the stage, and is described by organisers as one of the biggest events held in India.

The concert will be held in India's financial capital Mumbai on Dec. 7, Live Earth founder Kevin Wall said in Mumbai.

"(Former U.S. Vice President) Al Gore asked me whether we could do this in India, and I said yes," Wall told Reuters in Mumbai. "This is going to be huge."

4. Very cool
What products are they going to use for this I wonder? I have recently come across this company and its products are being sold in India, China and other countries with large communities off the regular electric grid structure:

They recently received recognition from the World Bank for providing solar light to the nomadic peoples of Northern Africa. http://www.g24i.com/news,g24i-wins-world-bank-groups-lighting-africa-award,71.html

These green revolution is going to change our lives - wish these events and products were happening in our country. :(

5. I'd like to light my apt. with solar

even conserving, the electricity bill is HIGH. (been looking into solar garden lights to use as front door, porch light - some brands of solar garden lights people have complained about)

and solar is great for areas without electricity.
