Subpoenaed Palin aides don't appear at abuse probe
Source: AP

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Seven of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's top aides defied subpoenas for their testimony Friday into possible abuse of power by the governor. Palin's Chief of Staff Mike Nizich and six other aides failed to appear at a legislative hearing into whether Palin abused her power when she fired her public safety commissioner this summer.

Alaska Senate Judiciary Chairman Hollis French, D-Anchorage, waited 30 minutes Friday before reading a statement that the witnesses could be found in contempt when the full Legislature convenes in January.

Alaska Attorney General Talis Colberg filed a lawsuit on behalf of the seven state workers Thursday challenging the subpoenas. He claims the committee has no jurisdiction to issue subpoenas in the investigation.

5. Apparently there is some Alaska rule that the Legislature
has to be in session to order a contempt proceeding.

11. Sarcasm or not, they had better follow through 100% on this...
...and carry it out to its natural conclusion.

Palin has a well-established history of monomaniacally trying to ruin the life and career of anyone who doesn't appear to support her. She's crazy that way. Well, she's crazy a lot of ways, but that's one of them.

8. This is the reason...
...it is so important that Bolton, Miers, and Rove are held in contempt. If they get away with it, then a precedent will be set. Republicans in the future, assuming the party survives after this election cycle, will simply thumb their noses up at congressional authority. I wish we had more vertebrates in Congress.

13. They were too busy watching for Putin flyovers
Rearing his ugly head in our air space and all. Our national security takes precedence over the trivialities of the bleep-bleep legal system, and no one knows that better than guvner Todd, I mean Sarah. These dedicated public servants have their priorities y'know!
