Source: CNN

Posted: 08:52 PM ET

MIAMI, Florida (CNN) — Hurricane Kyle head north along the the East Coast on Saturday, as forecasters issued tropical storm and hurricane watches for coastal Maine.

Kyle, a Category 1 hurricane, is forecasted to make landfall late Sunday or early Monday near the border between Maine and Canada.

As of 8 p.m. Saturday, Kyle’s center was located about 405 miles (650 km) of Nantucket, Massachusetts, and 615 miles (985 km) south-southwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The storm formed Thursday east of the Bahamas.

Kyle’s maximum sustained winds were near 75 mph (120 km/hr) with higher gusts — barely hurricane strength. Some strengthening was expected, forecasters said.

1. Just rain going on so far. I'm hoping it either slows down or heads out to sea. I'm not
wild about big winds blowing around my trailer.

3. Thanks! I expect to come through things pretty ok. If it was higher than a cat 1, I'd be worried.

4. Dudette, this is a hurricane
It is a freakin' hurricane. Sustained winds of 75mph ... and producing significantly higher gusts. Do NOT try to ride this out in a trailer. And if you must ... just make sure it is well secured to the ground. Take it from a old Southern boy who has been through more than a few of these storms, nothing called a hurricane is to be taken lightly.

And post back in quick to let us know you are OK! :grouphug:

5. I'm not too worried either
Mainly rain, some flood warnings basically because we can only absorb so much rain.

Hurricanes feed off of warm water. If you think the ocean is warm (for swimming), you're thinking South Atlantic or Pacific or whatever. We're up in the North Atlantic, which ain't exactly bathwater temp. That's why hurricanes are rare (of course, due to global warming, we may see more). But without warm water, it's hard for the hurricane to grow.

We'll have a good rainstorm, a bit of a nor'easter, but it's not going to be like Katrina or anything. Mainly it will make driving a pain in the ass.

7. First hurricane warning here in 17 years
We're not expecting much here in the interior. Just raining now and no winds at all.

Good luck to those in Washington and Hancock Counties. I bet they lose some power with the winds.

8. dead quiet here right now
I'm on the inland side of a coastal village, 45 miles due west of where Kyle was supposed to hit land. But really about 20 miles west of the line separating hurricane and tropical storm warnings. A little too close for comfort. I expect it will be very loud in my 150+ year old house tonight...
