Attendee at McCain rally calls Obama a 'terrorist'
Source: CNN

(CNN) — Some supporters of the Republican ticket stole a share of the spotlight at Monday campaign rallies with controversial attacks aimed at Barack Obama.

In Albuquerque, New Mexico, John McCain pushed his campaign’s most recent line of attack against Obama: that the Democratic nominee represents a relatively unknown risk. “All people want to know is: What has this man ever actually accomplished in government? What does he plan for America? In short: Who is the real Barack Obama?” Someone in the crowd responded by yelling: “Terrorist!” The crowd roared, and McCain seemed startled, but it is unclear whether he actually heard what the man shouted. He did not respond to the attack.

And before GOP VP nominee Sarah Palin entered a campaign rally in Estero, Florida, Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott took aim at “Barack Hussein Obama.”

“On November 4, let’s leave Barack Hussein Obama wondering what happened,” he said. As the crowd cheered, he gave a forceful salute.

2. Well I live in the county of Sheriff Joe Arpaio
He is even more ridiculous. I recall a latest ad where Arpaio says he says he saves tax payer's money on jail utility costs and meals and says "don't pay attention to the liberal media" then afterwards he throws a copy of the Arizona Republic in the trash.

This kind of thing is nothing new to me

5. What a nasty piece of work McCain is!
Some snotty hag refers to Hillary Clinton as a "bitch," and McCain just grins and snickers. Then some sleazoid mofo at a rally calls Obama a terrorist, and McCain looks like, what, a deer in the headlights. Does he not have the decency to say, "No, you will not say that"? Of course not. But then all the Republican Party has is smears and lies.

And I may want to slap the next person who makes a big deal over Obama's middle name. It was also the name of a king of Jordan.

6. This is an absolute outrage! He is setting Obama up for the most horrible
outcome after Obama wins the election. This is an ELECTION. It will be over soon. More than likely Obama will win and there will be a bunch of people convinced by Palin and McCain that their president is a terrorist. This should not be stood for. This is as bad as calling someone a Nazi, or Hitler, and it should NOT BE ALLOWED TO STAND!

What can we do? Saying McCain is one of the Keating 5 is not enough. This isn't a playground game. This is BAD NEWS for the entire country. It is WRONG!!!!!! We cannot have our presidential candidates being called terrorists. Enough! ENOUGH!!!! ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

14. Bitch?
While I will agree that isn't polite, it in no way compares with "terrorist." Think "mean, grouchy lady," or "9/11?" One may produce a little irritation, the other invokes moral outrage. I'll leave it to you to figure out which is which.

BTW - Welcome to DU.

Crow tomorrow night at the debate. Someone should ask MaGoo if he thinks Obama is a terrorist, and why are they bringing up Ayers if he's not.

16. I agree. But it would be hard to pin point which ones said it
Here is a little more. I heard the clip on Maddow and it definately sounded like there was more then just one person.

"Now it turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers," Palin said.

"Boooo!" said the crowd.

"And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,'" she continued.

"Boooo!" the crowd repeated.

"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.

Palin went on to say that "Obama held one of the first meetings of his political career in Bill Ayers's living room, and they've worked together on various projects in Chicago."

18. Dangerous Indeed
So I turn on the news Monday morning and - what a way to start the week! I was shocked to see a uniformed official making a blatant and ugly statement designed to endorse one political candidate and slur another. This was on official, charged with serving the taxpayers of his county and/or state, fear-mongering on their dime. I'm wondering if there are legal ramifications. He represents the taxpayers when he is in uniform - and his actions imply the police department endorses a political candidate. Can we, as taxpayers, file suit? Or at a minimum, demand a public apology?

And then there's Palin... I get a chill when she accuses Obama of palling around with domestic terrorists. Would this type of administration usher in a new era of McCarthyism? Will the witch hunt be on for domestic terrorists and their sympathizers? Perhaps dissenters will be shut down and any police officer that refuses to "play ball" will be dismissed. I, for one, do not want this type of administration in power - or their gung ho sheriff knocking on my door.

20. Where is the stupid Media on this one?
What McCain is doing is absolutely dangerous and harmful. He is also inciting and prodding violence. I thought there was a Law that deals with this and even if hard to prove, there is enough there to pursue it I think. This needs to be dealt with. Is the Media going to just sit by and let this shit happen?

12. Rally calls Obama a "terrorist"
I hate to even type the word terrorist in the context she used it. It makes my skin crawl to have to even listen to her say such a thing. McCain/Palin do not care about OUR country at all.

If she had her way the "main stream media" would cease to exist, and it would be all wacko all the time.

17. da plant, da plant.....
....today children, our word is, 'terrorist'....

....yesterday winky implies Obama has 'terrorist' ties, today, some repug (probably paid) stooge conveniently yells 'terrorist' at the right moment, then some redneck repug sheriff uses Obama's middle name in a way to convey the impression of 'terrorist', and the Nazi crowd roars....pattern?

....the old white-haired fascist chicken-fucker must be having a hard time convincing the American people that he isn't the worthless piece of shit that he is....

....tomorrow children, our word is, 'nigger'

21. McCain seemed "startled." Yes, he was napping on stage at the time. But seriously..
I know that there has been outright hate and bigotry in past republican elections, but usually it floats under the surface, like a heavy scum.

I think this is the FIRST time I've seen such blatant bigotry and hate in a campaign that is coming from the candidates themselves. It's a scary road. those fuckers are so desperate!!! It's UGLY season in politics, not silly season as OBama says.
