National Poll Released by Pew Research Center: Barack Obama 50%, John McCain 40%

Washington D.C. 10/15/2008 07:22 PM GMT (FINDITT)

Here are the latest results from the Pew Research National Polls poll by Pew Research Center published on USAElectionPolls.com:

There were 1278 voters polled on 10/9-12.

With few Americans expressing a positive view of national conditions and President Bush’s approval rating reaching a new low (25%) in a Pew survey, the political environment favors the Democrats. Barack Obama holds a sizable 50% to 40% lead over John McCain, and a greater share of his supporters back him strongly. Moreover, the percentage of voters saying they have definitely decided not to vote for McCain has risen steadily, from 37% in early August to 45% in the current survey.

Voters continue to express more confidence in Obama than in McCain to handle the financial crisis; 47% say Obama could best address the current problems while 33% choose McCain. Voters are especially critical of McCain’s performance in explaining how he would handle the crisis. Just 29% say he has done an excellent or good job in explaining his approach to the crisis while 67% say he has done only a fair or poor job.

1. This is very good news but look what happened in Mexico
Liberal mayor had overall 10% lead in the polls and yet the right wing presidential candidate "won" the election.
A dry run for the US perhaps. I hope not. Keep working hard, keep going right up to the last moment. Watch the Repubs like a hawk because if you give them an inch they will take the whole thing.

2. Liar. All of the polls prior to that election showed Calderon ahead.
I'm sorry for using such a harsh term, but you made up history and not particularly well either.

6. We must be looking at different data but perhaps you might like

to consider this article.

It is only one of many and is supported by some very credible authorities.

I do not believe I mis characterized the data, but it sounds like perhaps we are looking at two very different data sets.
I feel you were somewhat hasty in your allegation of my telling a mis truth and could have simply asked for clarification.:-)

3. I always cringe
when these kinds of numbers are floated out there. I'm concerned about people (newbies?) not showing up on the 4th because they think Obama's got this on lock.

4. I don't think that's the case this year
There are too many people fired up right now and as long as the economy is tanking, they are mad as hell and aren't going to take it anymore! I doubt the average person is paying attention to any polls. They have made up their minds and will be throwing the bums out!

5. Yep.
What else do the unemployed have to do that day? We're home anyway, so let's go vote.
