Palin Touts 'Come from Behind' McCain Win in N.H., Though Polls Show He Led

LACONIA, N.H. -- As GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin tours
New Hampshire for the first time in her life, she is making much of
the fact that John McCain scored a come-from-behind victory here in
January during the presidential primary.

"Granted, we're going to have to come from behind, but it can be done,"
she told a group of several hundred supporters who gathered here on
the banks of Lake Winnipesaukee. "You know it was just in January that
the critics had counted John McCain out. He was down in the polls."

Earlier, in Dover, N.H., she made her point even more emphatically,
saying, "He was down in the polls, but the people of New Hampshire went
to the polls and turned the underdog into the victor."

There's just one flaw in Palin's analysis: McCain didn't come from
behind to win in New Hampshire.

According to several polls leading up to New Hampshire's Jan. 8 primary,
McCain consistently led his rivals in the Granite State as the primary
neared.
