Judge releases report on NJ voting machines

... With a trial date set for January, millions of New Jerseyans will vote on those machines in the Nov. 4 presidential election. <Penny Venetis, a law professor at Rutgers School of Law-Newark and co-director of its constitutional litigation clinic> said at least 20 states have banned touch-screen voting machines similar to those used throughout New Jersey.

New Jersey .... missed several deadlines for retrofitting the machines because of technological glitches.

The case got a boost Friday, when Superior Court Judge Linda Feinberg authorized the release of Appel's critical report.

<Andrew Appel of the Center for Information Technology Policy at Princeton> said the machines, manufactured by California-based Sequoia Voting Systems, contain design flaws that could allow votes to go uncounted and cartridges that can be manipulated to change votes ...

1. Not me. I voted using a paper absentee ballot. I'm not touching a Diebold screen to vote.

6. i am afraid to vote absentee
because they may not count my vote. now if i vote on a machine, they may not count my vote. shit. i am early voting now.

7. We don't use Diebold machines here in NJ
If they're trying to steal elections here, they're doing a piss poor job of it.

9. You're correct. They are Sequoia, not Diebold.
But essentially the same result.

4. I think we here in CA are also using those Sequoia EVMs but the Democratic SoS here
made sure they print out paper receipts that we voters can use to verify our cast votes. The paper receipts also serve as a documented verification should there be a recount or challenge.
