2. I don't think Obama has anything to worry about in his own home state.
Both the Governor of Illinois and the SoS are Democrats and big Obama supporters.

3. NC is voting early too. This is the bad thing about early voting. More time to
tamper.

5. Yes, I already voted (in NC)
It would be great if NC went blue. I wonder if that we are so close will tempt anyone to try to keep it red?

6. Actually, the parts of Illinois that will go most strongly for Obama have a rep for FINDING votes.
The urban legend in Illinois is that in Cook County (Chicago) they FIND Dem votes when needed. The popular myth is that one of the largest precincts in Chicago is the one with the city cemetery in it.

Just sayin...

Now to go into a slice of reality I will tell you from my own personal observation as somebody that works down the hall from the County Clerk's office (the folks responsible for elections in most places in Illinois) the traffic has been HUGE here locally. I know all the folks who work in that office, and they are just blown AWAY by the early turnout.

They are quick to point out that this is the first Presidential election in Illinois where you are able to early vote without voting absentee, but even so, they are telling me they are amazed at what they are seeing. A couple of them had to come get chocolate from me the other day to help deal with the stress (Yes, there IS a very good reason to keep a bowl of chocolate in your government office--you learn a hell of a lot from people when they come to beg for candy.)

I think we will see an election turnout this year unlike ANY we have seen in this country for a very long time.

7. I voted already. It felt great!!
And I won't be spending election day here in Illinois, either. Wisconsin, Indiana, or maybe even Missouri aren't that far away...

9. I voted today here in Illinois
I hope to be helping to get out the vote on Nov. 4.

I've just got to trust that my vote gets where it needs to go and nobody messes with it. The post upthread about the shredder doesn't help fight back my paranoia.

12. That's so twentieth century.
Stop worrying about Chicago. Worry about Ohio and Florida. Worry about the Supreme Court.

The republicans are the real fraudsters. They learned from the old Chicago types and raised vote theft to a high art.
