BREAKING: Six-Year-Old Cole Puffinburger Found Alive

UPDATE:

Law enforcement officials are reporting that six-year-old Cole Puffinburger has been found alive and is safe in policy custody. The boy was found in the downtown Las Vegas area after being missing since Wednesday.

The boy was found near a bus stop near Oakey and 17th Street. He was found in good shape, but is being transported to UMC for a medical evaluation.

Earlier Saturday, Metro Police canceled an Amber Alert for the six-year-old. Metro held a news conference Saturday afternoon to update the case.

Metro Captain Vincent Cannito said police from several jurisdictions served search warrants in connection with the case. Cannito says large amounts of cash were been recovered at some of the search warrant locations.

Officers have taken a person of interest into custody and they're currently looking for another man, identified as Mexican national Jesus Gastelum. Police believe Gastelum is in Las Vegas or Southern California.

2. Apparently his grandfather owed the wrong people money.
At least that's what the story earlier said.

3. Jesus! As a grandfather, I'd like to fly downthere and kick "grampa's" ass! (If that's what it was)
There is NO excuse for doing anything that endangers your grandchild. For the rest of that idiot's life, he has to wake up every morning and remember that he could've got that little boy killed. I know they can't technically charge him with anything, but God I wish

6. Don't let him off easy yet.
Maybe he never thought they'd go after his family, but that's a Mexican Mafia tradition. Everyone's lucky they didn't cut a piece off the kid right away.

Now that the cops have him, and probably took the money, they're giving him a choice. He can turn on the dealers, or they'll let him out on the streets and turn a blind eye.

The dealers know by now that no one's getting out of this deal gone bad without penalty, and somebody's going down. That's why they minimized their liability by releasing the kid unharmed.

Grandpa's in trouble, no matter what.

12. I posted that before I'd heard the other details.
Mainly I was hoping the kid was unharmed.

I Wasn't bashing the boy.

I know it's his grandfather's fault.

So chill, OK?

7. This story don't sound right, I think someone is lying
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 02:51 AM by Heather MC
Ok according to what I have heard, the gramps disappeared, the family was tied up while the house was ran sacked. then they decided to "take" the little boy in the hopes of recoving stolen money.

I DON'T believe it.
it sounds like a "Susan Smith and a black man jacked my car", kind of story. This time with Mexicans

No one was hurt, the family ran straight to the police, and they knew who to look for right away
I am not a criminal mastermind, but if went to the trouble of tying you up, searching your home, and taking your kid, someone would have gotten hurt, at the very least you would not know who I was.

I mean all that seems really extreme to have everyone come out unharmed.

I DON'T THINK THESE PEOPLE ARE TELLING THE TRUTH

kids were dead. She came up with her story to explain her missing (dead) kids. This child was found alive.
I fail to see any similarities between the cases.

18. The simularity is a hyped story, with Minorites commiting the crime
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 09:36 AM by Heather MC
Ok fine, I've seen this foney missing kid but the kid comes back ok stories in DC about a year or two ago. The mother made up the story so she didn't have to go to work.

I just think something is not right, on the part of the family. It's all to easy. And now the boy is POOF FOUND,
Don't get me, wrong I am happy for the little, but I think their's much more to the story.

I am not sure what their angle is just yet, but I don't think the little boy was ever in any danger.

13. Cole Puffinburger found alive and well in Las Vegas
Source: Las Vegas media

They broke into SNL here in Las Vegas minutes ago to relay this excellent news. Puffinburger is the 6 year old boy who was kidnapped several days ago, prompting an Amber Alert and national coverage. Apparently Cole was dropped off at a bus stop tonight in Las Vegas, about 10:40 PM.

The news just broke and I can't find a local link, but here is a segment from an article this afternoon:

"Officers in California found Cole's grandfather, 51-year-old Clemens Tinnemeyer, late Friday. Metro says Tinnemeyer was part of a methamphetamine ring with Mexican drug dealers and vanished with millions of dollars owed to them. Police say when the drug dealers couldn't find him, or the money, they took the boy as ransom."

No link yet.

17. The pricks left him alone at a bus stop.
I understand that they kidnapped the boy, but even more disregard for him when they left him at a bus stop. I hope they slap a charge of child endangerment on top of the kidnapping.

19. As a mother, I can't watch movies about this. I can't imagine the mother's relief.
If it were me, I wouldn't let him out of my sight for months, and I'd probably cry for a week, straight, just to release the fear.

Honestly, this will probably be worse in the long run for his mother!

I'm really glad he's ok. They could have easily killed him to get away. I wonder why they didn't. Maybe they thought the entire US military would be after them if they killed him.

I still grieve for all those who have lost children, but every once in a while...things turn out well.

26. I have to say, this is at least as good a bit of news...
as the Powell endorsement. For once, one of these kidnapped child stories works out for the best. Little Cole reminds me too much of my own 6-year-old grandson.
