... McCain, whose negative campaigning was cited by former Secretary of State Colin Powell as a reason for his endorsement of Obama, is alienating other Republicans in Chicago as well, including members of the business community.

``There are a lot of great businesses here, a lot of good Republicans in this city,'' said Jerry Roper, president of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, who didn't disclose his party affiliation and said he hasn't decided whom to support. ``It does a disservice to those Republicans who reside here and to those businesses that are trying to build their companies.'' ...

2. I feel bad for all GOPers who live in "Fake America"
They have to endure being called assholes by their own party, all the time. It's not conducive to winning seats, really.

11. i am. i have been posting that over and over here on du.
i must have posted it 1,000 times during the primaries.
democrats are also offended, of course. not only have we pretty much reformed, paddy bauler (the guy who said chicago ain't ready for reform. that was about 100 years ago.) died a long time ago. harold washington (our first black mayor) changed this city forever. his motto was fairer than fair, and that has pretty much been the standard ever since.
