MN Dems rip another GOPer's wardrobe
Source: MSNBC

Downballot Republicans may have grumbled a little to hear about the RNC's $150,000 subsidy of Sarah Palin's wardrobe, but one who may have been particularly unhappy to hear the news is embattled Minnesota Republican Norm Coleman. Coleman, who's in one of the country's tightest Senate races, has already been fighting against accusations that he's too cozy with GOP consultant and mega-insider Jeff Larson. Now, the Atlantic's Josh Green has tied Larson's name to the cash shelled out for Palin's wardrobe. And Minnesota Democrats wasted little time drawing attention to the notion that Coleman also gets his suits from Neiman Marcus on the dime of "his special interest friends." ...

1. 30 years ago, I had my only experience with Nieman-Marcus.

Forgot to pack socks for my flight to Chicago. Nieman-Marcus was one of the closest stores to my hotel.

Cheapest socks were eight bucks a pair.

I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

"But did he ever return? No, he never returned."

Props to the Kingston Trio.

9. One of my brothers used to work at Neiman-Marcus in Dallas

He designed in-store displays and took me on a tour of the store once. It was an incredible experience. I met a few of the clothes models, mostly the ones hitting on my little bro, and they were skinny. I was pretty thin at the time but these women were skeletal. I'm just under 5'8" barefoot and, at that time, I weighed between 115-120. These women were taller and couldn't have weighed more than a hundred pounds. And they were pale. My brother used to joke that they kept them in the basement so they'd never see sunlight.

2. There's a good video of his aides stonewalling a press conference about this matter.
I forget where it is, but the gist of it is that the press corps just keeps asking him where the hell the suits come from and the aide won't confirm or deny. It's pretty awesome. I hope Franken picks this up and runs it home.

3. I found the video.

Pretty awesome. I hate Coleman so much and hope nothing more than for him to receive a sound thrashing at the polls come election day. I love how he's tried to run on being more Minnesotan than Al when Coleman didn't even grow up in MN and Al did. UGH.

10. Ah, Bill...
Although I think he refuses to say Al's name and would call him "Senator Stuart Smalley".
But that works for me!

7. He has said that only he or his wife have purchased his suits.
I wish they had asked if his wife has ever been gifted with suits for him. Do the Senate ethics rules specifically require disclosure of gifts received by the spouse or children of a senator from corporate interests or PACs?

I would not put it past them to try to slime their way out of this by saying that Normie disclosed all of HIS gifts, leaving out the possiblity that his wife or children were given suits that just happened to be tailored exactly to his size and since they fit him so well, they didn't mind him borrowing them.

8. So, is Coleman gonna wind up third?
Would be fitting to see The Cole Slaw Man running third behind Franken and Barkley!

11. God I would love that.
Minnesotans, don't let me down. Let's let the Scandinavian tendencies prevail over the German ones for a change...
