Christian right intensifies attacks on Obama
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 08:00 PM by DogPoundPup
Source: Ledger-Enquirer / AP Politics

Terrorist strikes on four American cities. Russia rolling into Eastern Europe. Israel hit by a nuclear bomb. Gay marriage in every state. The end of the Boy Scouts. All are plausible scenarios if Democrat Barack Obama is elected president, according to a new addition to the campaign conversation called "Letter from 2012 in Obama's America," produced by the conservative Christian group Focus on the Family Action.

The imagined look into the future is part of an escalation in rhetoric from Christian right activists who are trying to paint Obama in the worst possible terms as the campaign heads into the final stretch and polls show the Democrat ahead.

Although hard-edge attacks are common late in campaigns, the tenor of the strikes against Obama illustrate just how worried conservative Christian activists are about what should happen to their causes and influence if Democrats seize control of both Congress and the White House.

"It looks like, walks like, talks like and smells like desperation to me," said the Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell of Houston, an Obama supporter who backed President Bush in the past two elections. The Methodist pastor called the 2012 letter "false and ridiculous." He said it showed that some Christian conservative leaders fear that Obama's faith-based appeals to voters are working.

3. Christians should never worry period.
Regardless of their political persuasion. The Bible says not to. I don't worry about much of anything. I do keep a loaded gun close at hand though just in case.

10. Real Christians don't worry; their faith in Christ is supposed to lead them through uncertain times.
Many of these people are only Christian in name. They don't practice much of what Christ preached with their hate, prejudice, judgmental attitudes and violence against people of different opinions, races and nationalities.

2. "Terrorist strikes on four American cities" Why four and not three or five?
I am puzzled at how they come up with this shit? Is this the script from a "Left Behind" book?

5. A little too late
Not easy to defeat a candidate with a 7-10% lead, no matter how vile the attacks.

6. The end of Boy Scouts?
Funny thing about that. When I was younger my former Lutheran pastor frowned on students wearing Boy Scout uniforms to church and quietly asked parents to bar them from doing so. So depends on which Christians are saying what on who's banning anything. Because some Christians want Boy Scouts banned from certain spots. Oi and this is from the Missouri Synod in the late 1980's. Which is kinda ironic because the Missouri Synod isn't quite so extreme against gays compared to the Wisconsin Synod. ( tend to think of myself a member of the Wisconsin Synod. I was confirmed Missouri Synod though. I'd say the last time I spoke in front of that many people was early 1990. It was one of the requirements for graduating from 8th grade. Make a sermon.) Oi gonna give me bad memories. lol. I don't go to church at all now because supposedly us Democrats are going to hell. Of course going to church isn't a requirement anyway. So I'll keep that between Jesus and me. But indeed having cheap wine when your 14-15 years old wasn't bad. Best tasting wine was always the church wine. I still keep contact with this pastor. But never bring up Ann Coulter. Barely left with my head on. Almost destroyed my relationship with him.

Of course I'm guessing the scary black guy with his other scary black men taking over the government as my dad fears really won't happen either. Especially when a white lady disfigures her face and pulls a "In the Head of the Night" moment and points fingers at the wrong person." I've had more white bullies than black bullies and even the half a year living in Freeport Ill in 1985-1986, the two main bullies were both WHITE!!! Including one pulling a knife out. So much for racism for me.

7. Some of the conservative denominations on the right even have
their own version of the girl scouts and boy scouts. Heck, they don't even want their children mixing with the "wrong kind" of Christian. They are separatists. I think the Assembly of God has its own "Boy Scout" organization so they don't have to worry about losing control of it, unless it comes from within.

15. I think it would be best...
if they just saved up and bought a small island somewhere to have their own country on. Then they could have the theocracy they desperately want. Heck I would probably pitch in for it.

16. How 'Christian' of them.
Geez, I seem to remember quotes along the lines of 'love your enemy', 'judge not lest ye be judged', and "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". That must've been a different Jesus.

23. This was posted over in GDP, but it's important
This really shows us how hateful they are.

To them, allowing gay people rights equal to theirs is on the same level as millions of people dying in multiple terrorist attacks. That really sums up the level of their level of hatred and their lack of empathy for ordinary human beings.
