Ex-general Barry McCaffrey reports light at the end of the tunnel in Iraq
Source: NYDaily News

WASHINGTON - The Iraq war has entered its "end game," enabling the U.S. to bring home most of its 140,000 G.I.s within three years, retired Gen. Barry McCaffrey has written in a new report.

The assessment made for the U.S. Military Academy by one of the Army's most decorated battle commanders is also an unsparing indictment of ex-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and the generals who backed his failed effort to defeat an insurgency he initially denied.

"It is hard to not be bitter" about the early years of the war, McCaffrey wrote. Of the estimated $750 billion the war has cost, the 4,515 troops killed and the more than 30,000 wounded, the four-star general said, "It did not have to turn out this way."

The 2003 invasion "was an astonishing misjudgment - it was a real shame," McCaffrey told the Daily News Monday.

McCafffrey murdered 250,000 white flagged Iraqis in the Highway of Death
carpet bombing them and bulldozing the living and the dead into

Perhaps you could provide a link?

Somehow I seem to have forgotten a "Highway of Death" that was worse than Hiroshima.:nuke:
Although with all the seniors, the mothers carrying babies, the donkeys pulling cars it must have been horrific.

I must be getting old, I remember a "Path of Injury" with a lot of Iraqi soldiers and officers that were
trying to get out of Kuwait with their plunder. Probably a different event.

Oh yeah, :sarcasm:

P.S. You use white flags when surrendering not when retreating.
P.P.S. Time to cut down on the cool-aid, it doesn't work anymore

7. So you're saying you'venot heard of the Basra Highway of Death?
What the UK government called "massive war crimes"?

Where US troops bulldozed over Iraqi troops, burying them alive?

"We're firing on schoolbuses! We're firing on schoolbuses!"

Before you snear at a DUer, try googling. Coz the DUer is telling facts.

8. Again, could either of you also provide a link?
Until then, here's one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highway_of_Death

On second reading there were family members with the Palestinian militia that were retreating and
Iraqi civilians that had been encouraged to loot Kuwait. I didn't recall that there were civilians
but this was hardly a convoy of just civilians. It had Iraqi soldiers and Palestinian militia with
looted Kuwaiti vehicles. Some were even Kuwaiti that appeared to be hostages. The numbers of
all people killed is controversial, some estimates at the link are in the low hundreds. It seems
reasonable that lots of people left the convoy and ran into the desert as soon as it was bombed at
the front and the rear to stop it. In the aftermath the US appears to have buried many of the dead
using bulldozers. Note, if the Kuwaiti's militia had stopped the convoy, they would have probably
killed everybody because of the atrocities the people on the road had been involved in.

You may be confusing the bulldozing of Iraqi troops in this instance with the instance when it
incontrovertibly happened. When the US broke through the mined Iraqi front lines they did
use armored bulldozers to bury many Iraqis alive in their trenches. Perhaps I should mention
that the Iraqi troops were shooting at the bulldozers and US troops at the time.

On the white flagged Iraqis, in the above article a pilot indicates they were
shooting at him and he definitely dropped his bombs on moving vehicles and people. Ummmm
waving a white flag while shooting at your enemy is the international sign language symbol that you
are NOT surrendering.

Last, I'm a DUer too though I usually only lurk. ANYONE who massively overstates what happened
tars all DUer's. Hiroshima had roughly 80,000 killed outright and 140,000 by the end of the year.
Invesintrains is claiming The Highway of Death (roughly one mile long)had TWO-THREE Hiroshima's worth of
dead on it? For the 1500 civilian vehicles that were on the road, that would mean that each would have
to carry roughly an average of 160 people and they would have to all stay on the road after the bombing
started. Also if the US buried them by the road, where are the 250,000 bodies? What planet are you both
living on? "Facts" like this belong on Faux News.

Once more, links please...
