Bush reflects on struggle with alcohol
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) — President Bush reflected on his own struggle with alcohol in a White House meeting today to tout gains in the war on drug abuse.

CNN was the only media outlet invited to attend the entire meeting, which other reporters joined in the final minutes for remarks from the president.

Several in the room, including Don Coyhis of Colorado Springs, Colorado who runs a program targeting Native Americans battling substance abuse, were recovered addicts or alcoholics.

Bush, who quit drinking at the age of 40, was impressed.

"Congratulations on thirty years of sobriety," the president told Coyhis. "I'm eight years behind you."

...

"One of the most striking aspects of being president is the power of prayer in my life. I feel it," said Mr. Bush. "Some days are happy. Some days are not so happy. But every day is joyous."

"Congratulations on thirty years of sobriety," the president told Coyhis. "I'm eight years behind you."

The man is still drinking. The drink he is drinking here is made w/ 190 proof brandy.

26. Yep, recovered my ass...
I am a drinker, and know more than a few drunks. The pics you post are only a few instances. How many times have we seen him slurring his words, with a goofy look on his face, or looking disheveled. How many injuries have been apparent on his face. He makes Gerald Ford look graceful. Here lately, he is almost always red faced. And what about that incident where he started giving Merkel a shoulder massage? Sober people do not do this.

He has never recovered from his alcohol problems, and it will be a very long time before America recovers from him.

4. It is pretty obvious to me
that in recent months whenever he has been seen in public he is inebriated.

I think the scary thing may be that he's probably drinking quite steadily and is always at least mildly intoxicated. I just hope that those around him don't let him do anything too stupid.

6. Same here
and I also think the man still has a cocaine habit. Every time I watch him speak in public, he has signs consistent with a person who just did a line of coke. His jaw is constantly moving back and forth. Anyone who has ever been a party to this drug knows exactly what I'm talking about.

21. I don't believe I've ever been around
someone who has just done a line of coke, so I'm oblivious to those signs. But that's very interesting to hear.

and YES....most definately...he has had one of the most obvious "Coke-Jaws" that I've ever seen. Some days are worse than others. He's SUCH a LIAR! Between the coke, booze, pharms and falls...I hope it all comes out SOON!

11. Wow, that could even be a drinking game...
You pull a card out of a pile that represents Bush responses to either historical visiting leaders, important conferences or international events. Then slam one down if your guess matched a Bush ludicrous response.

Bonus drinks if his response was to clear brush.

7. Isn't one of the first of 12-steps include going to the people you ...
took advantage of, abused, screwed over and lied to, thus taking "ownership" over the supposed state of sobriety? As far as I can see, THAT will never happen... fucking Narcissist.

You can easily find videos of him both drinking and drunk on youtube. The guy's a liar. But then, we knew that, right? Drunk or sober, he's done all he can to ruin our country, and he's a perverse little man.

and that he was elected fair and square in 2000 or 2004.

20. He stopped drinking with the left hand - and started drinking
with the right.

This guy is not merely a dry drunk; he's a still-drinking, Jim Beam loving drunk.

He is often under the influence - he was drunk during the 2004 debates and he was a drunken embarrassment at Beijing 2008.

George W. Bush is a congenital liar - and a drunken, burned out, failure at every profession he's ever tried.

Loser.

23. Bush at the bar...
Every Friday at 5:00, the same guy would come into the same bar and order three beers. The bartender would set them up and he would casually sip from each until they were gone and then leave. One day, the bartender asked, "Why do you always get three beers?"

The fellow responded, "You see, my two brothers and I came to America together, but we couldn't find a way to live in the same town. Each Friday back in the homeland we would meet at 5:00 to get a beer each. Since we can't be together, I get one for each of us. It is my way of being with them."

Years past, and he never varied from his pattern, unless the bar was closed for a holiday in which case he would arrive the day before. One day, he walked in and ordered two beers. The entire bar went silent. The bartender brought him the beer and everyone was looking at him, prodding him to ask. The man casually sipped off of the two glasses, saying nothing.

"I'm, I'm sorry," the bartender eventually said. "Which of your brothers passed away?"

"Oh, no!" the man replied. "My brothers are just fine! I just stopped drinking."

27. He never quit drinking
I may have quit drinking at an older age that he has said he did, but when I quit I actually quit.

He was a drunk in 2000 and still is a drunk now.

I'd love to know what condition his liver is in.
