EXCLUSIVE: OH Election Fraud Attorney Reacts to the Death of Mike Connell
Cliff Arnebeck, lead attorney in the growing federal election conspiracy case tells The BRAD BLOG that the loss of a key witness will not deter his pursuit of justice
U.S. Dept. of Justice ignored months-long effort to protect GOP 'IT guru' following reported threats from Karl Rove...

The lead attorney in the widening 2004 federal election fraud conspiracy case which began in Ohio --- but is rapidly growing to other states and other elections --- says that the stunning death of a key witness last Friday is a blow to the case, but not the end of it by a long shot.

"Michael Connell was a critically important witness. His loss hurts our case," Cliff Arnebeck, the lead attorney for the plaintiffs in the King-Lincoln Bronzville v. OH Sec. of State lawsuit told The BRAD BLOG in an email responding to questions about Connell's death. The Republican 'IT guru', a top IT consultant to Karl Rove, George W. Bush, John McCain and a bevvy of Congressional Republicans, had been in the nation's capital on still-unknown business before his single engine plane crashed Friday night on the way home, just three miles short of the runway in Akron, Ohio. The cause of the crash remains similarly unknown as of today.

"We will have to adjust," Arnebeck told us in response to queries about where the case may necessarily need to go from here. "The kind of organized criminal enterprise we are addressing requires the resources of the very best that the investigative press corps and law enforcement, at all levels, can muster."...

5. I was REALLY hoping Connell would be smart enough to leave behind an "in case of my untimely death"
envelope, or CD, or video. Then again, he went ahead and flew in his plane when he KNEW there was a good chance it was sabotaged, so he was either not too bright or decided to "suicide" himself by allowing his murder to proceed. Was this his way of getting his wife out from under the threats and avoid jail time?? I suppose we will never know.

26. I thought the same thing about the DC Madam.
Then again, she was lugging around a box full of papers. This guy could have created any number of dead man's switches, both human and electronically timed, both on physical drives and dispersed among thousands of networked computers.

But I'll bet he didn't do that. I'll bet that guy was busy making everything disappear. Maybe the only important question is whether or not he finished the job.

If it was an accident, maybe he didn't finish the job.

I think you meant, "if it wasn't an accident", then maybe he didn't finish the job of making everything disappear.

23. I believe in Santa Claus & hope Connell kept Low Tech
Copy of whatever incriminating evidence he had against the GOP/Bush band of crooks.

As savvy with the keystrokes as he was, he had to know that keeping the information digitally was useless. He had to keep physical copies somewhere secure...where ever that may be in this world!

I truly hope you are right and the utter STUPIDITY he showed by flying in that plane was an anomaly and his records will condemn Rove from beyond the grave.

and I convinced this Repug/Fundie/Christian to vote for John Kerry in '04 and our relationship has been "cool" ever since. He is a hopeful person...he was upset with Bush...he didn't like Kerry but he voted for him. He voted for Bob Barr in '08. THESE are the FUNDIES we need to keep involved. Right now they
see both Dems & Repugs as EVIL...they want CHANGE...but Obama didn't do it for them after they voted for Kerry and saw their vote go down.

I sent him the Ohio Broadcast which "outs" what Connell was doing as well as your link to Fritakis in full link with text (he hates to to go to a site and have to download a link) and I'm hoping I can get him back into thinking differently than the Fundie Stuff he went back to after Kerry lost.

I hope other DU'ers will send the "full text" along to their Fundie Relatives they are hoping to get in touch with over the Holidays. But...I have to say...it's not worth losing friends or relatives over this holiday season to make a point with. Been there and Done that. :-(

This Video might be the Best Thing to send them, though:

And...if that doesn't work...send them the "TEXT" of the Fritakas Article, here:

64. Well I have GOP realtives
I thought one might be reasoned with on election 2008. His wife told me to shut up "Everything you are saying is a lie to get people to vote for your boy Obama".

Once I mentioned election fraud to one once and he said "I think that's a crock but if it's true GOOD, makes up for your party's electoral fraud, if the right guy wins who cares how.".

And neither of these are ever fundies. None in my family are. One is an atheist.

They bash Bush and Congress on spending and tell me to shut up cause "democrats are even worse". They vow to keep voting GOP even for "that liberal McCain to keep the real socialist trash out".

And they aren't even mean people. Otherwise they are very nice. One is very active in chairatble giving. Just have rightwingism passed down since "FDR stole Granddaddy's Gold" :/

Not worth it...just talk football. We all like the Bears.

If any of you sell-out "journalists" are looking in, I MEAN YOU! When the Bill of Rights says we have a right to a free press it doesn't mean free-of-charge, you worthless surrenderers of other peoples' rights...it means free to follow the story wherever it may lead and report the freakin' facts!

25. with some imagination, a whiffle bat, and a pillow....
we can get some stress release, and gain some presence and
more power. When we beat the f--k out of x who you imagine to
be on that pillow (the perpertrator(s) or situation), with
that whiffle bat, the sheer energy output of the action
informs the old primal brain that the deed is done. The
primal brain has no sense of time, and a strong sense of
dignity. This feeds the animal deep inside, and the
resolution dignifies our humanity. We don't have to hurt
anyone. Just feeding our own animals will make us more
powerful than we thought possible.

Try it. It works.

21. Republican IT Specialist Dies in Plane Crash
AMY GOODMAN: A top Republican internet strategist who was set to testify in a case alleging election tampering in 2004 in Ohio has died in a plane crash. Mike Connell was the chief IT consultant to Karl Rove and created websites for the Bush and McCain electoral campaigns. He also set up the official Ohio state election website reporting the 2004 presidential election returns.

Connell was reportedly an experienced pilot. He died instantly Friday night when his private plane crashed in a residential neighborhood near Akron, Ohio.

Michael Connell was deposed one day before the election this year by attorneys Cliff Arnebeck and Bob Fitrakis about his actions during the 2004 vote count and his access to Karl Rove’s email files and how they went missing.

Velvet Revolution, a non-profit investigating Connell’s activities, revealed this weekend that Connell had recently said he was afraid George Bush and Dick Cheney would “throw under the bus.” Cliff Arnebeck had also previously alerted Attorney General Michael Mukasey to alleged threats from Karl Rove to Connell if he refused to “take the fall.”

any concrete evidence she has, at the earliest possible moment. Of course, if Connell himself had been smart, he would have done precisely that, and he would probably be alive today. If he cared about his wife's safety, he would have ensured that evidence would go where it was needed if something happened to him, so that she would not become a target, too.

37. With any luck...
...Mr. Connell will have left a videotaped affidavit telling all that he knew about this bunch of bastards. I mean if he suspected that they were out to 'off' him, surely he would have thought to at least have left a 'doomsday device' that would open the door to the whole rotten, putrid, morass that is the Republican Party. God how I want to see them all rot in jail and/or hell and, hopefully, out of our lives forever. Of course no matter how much evidence comes out about their murderous activity, their apologists - like my relatives - still won't admit it and will blame it on the Libral Democrats and 'the blacks'.

51. On the other hand, they may convince her that the plaintiffs drove him to suicide.
And that if the death is labeled suicide she will collect no insurance money and her husband's estate will be sued for the damaged house. And the feds will send her to jail. At which point she hands over any papers her husband left behind and the Bush family quietly pays her off.

That is more likely to happen. They would have sized up the wife, before they pulled a stunt like this. If she was a big fighter who was likely to get on TV and sob "Rove murdered my husband!" I don't think that they would have tried this.

The only way that we will see this on the news is if the widow decides to go public, but with the Bush DOJ holding the threat of charges over head, that would take some real guts. She would have to be Cindy Sheehan.

38. Arnebeck is Brad's Attorney
Maybe that should be mentioned. Brad is co-founder of Velvet Revolution. The other founder is Brett Kimberlin, the convicted bomber and drug smuggler. Arnebeck is the VR's attorney.

Funny how there is no proof from Connell himself that he was threatened. I would not be surprised if Connell was a big part of the 2004 election fraud, but I find it hard to believe that he was about to whistleblow about it.

Every source to this story is an anonymous tipster. The only people who seem to get this alleged insider knowledge are Brad, Brett, and Larisa. Those three by the way are tied to the hip. Now Larisa is claiming that Connell was a source of hers. But anyone who wants to take her at her word should check out how she outright lied about Brett Kimberlin's past on a previous DU thread. If one word were to be used to describe intrepid reporters, it would be honesty. If Larisa could outright lie in this previous thread on the Superway Bomber, why shouldn't anyone consider that she might be lying now? How did "Larisa Alexandrovna" not outrageously lie in the following thread? And now she expects us to believe that Mike Connell was one of her sources?

41. Thanks for the welcome
I am not saying that Cliff is Brad's personal attorney, but that he is an attorney for the Velvet Revolution. That makes him Brad's attorney!

So you're tight with Bob Fitrakis? Any chance we can find out who you are? Though that's no big deal to me to find out.

Are there any other sources proving Connell was threatened by Rove other than from Brett Kimberlin affiliated sources? Did you read the DU thread I posted clearly showing that Larisa Alexandrovna posted lies about Brett Kimberlin? It's tough to take any of this seriously, when all we see are anonymous tipsters spilling beans to Larisa, Brad, and Brett, the convicted bomber who was never exonerated as "Alexandrovna" has claimed. I see zero proof that Michael Connell was about to whistleblow anything.

44. Bob told me that he himself warned Connell and that some other .....
..... person had told Connell along with Bob & Cliff that Connell's
life was in danger if he deleted the "off the shelve" e-mials that
Rove and Gonzales had concerning the DoJ / US Attorneys "problems."

45. It is not possible
that Connell stole the Ohio 2004 election the way described by the diagrams and assertions of Arnebeck's suit. The suit had zero evidence, a theory that made no sense, and nothing more. It was a crackpot suit. There was never any threat to Karl Rove from the suit. None.

49. People tend to remain tight-lipped and more than ordinarily cautious
in such circumstances.

Do you see a pattern of mysterious accidents with heavy vehicles and light aircraft in relation however mysterious to this Administration? If not, - much as I would like to wish you welcome - I would suggest you need to look for maybe a more juvenile forum.

43. How the hell does a pilot take off without enuff gas
I'm pretty sure you check the damn meter to see if you have enuff gas to get where you're going. Especially if you are getting ready to piss all over Rove.

The odds of dying in a plane crash are a million to 1.
The odds of all these politican people dying in so many 'accidents' are one billion to 1.

55. Generally, most small plane pilots top off the tanks before
they taxi to the runway. This is just too weird, and un-nerving.

58. Nobody ever officially said the pilot ran out of gas
The idea of running out of gas came from the original posts here of Larisa Alexandrovna. She has since retracted the out of gas claim, saying she was led astray by a source at the airport who she was in contact with because she was following Mr. Connell's movements.

Still, the out of gas observations are everywhere.

72. Pay. Very. Close. Attention...
1. investigators on the ground first said he ran out of gas, which I posted
2. they then said it was the weather, so i corrected my post
3. they then said it was not the weather or gas, and i put up that report as well

What about this do you NOT understand? Are you stupid or just willfully and openly lying? You went after me because I said he came from DC. Tell me then, where was he flying from? Oh, and please provide the source for your information.

48. Ironic
"While Connell had expressed a willingness to testify about what he knew concerning the '04 election, and the election website network he had created for Ohio's then-Sec. of State J. Kenneth Blackwell, he had become reticent after Rove had sent threats to Connell and his wife, according to tipsters..."
Had he already testified openly about all he knew, especially after being threatened, everything would have been out in the open already and maybe he'd still be alive, since there would have been no point to anyone wanting him done away with. By giving in to the threats, he may have made his life less safe, because now no one will know for sure.

54. REcommended. I doubt anyone will be brought to justice but I applaud this man's heroic effort
to see that justice is done and democracy protected. Arnebeck is a true freedom fighter. The Republican party is just too ruthless and too many people didn't realize that things would get this bad (liquidating witnesses) or that it will get worse.

They will only wake up when it's too late. Sorry, but unfortunately, evil though not as strong as goodness, moves much faster. I guess you could call me a pessimist, but try talking to people about this and then try to keep your hopes up. (Actually, I do have hope that Democracy will win out but I guess I think you have to talk harshly to people about the consequences of not acting soon enough in order to get people to wake and up and act in time.)
