Alabama AG announces legislative crime package (top crime Voter Fraud)
Source: The Daily Sentinel

Attorney General Troy King is holding a series of news conferences with law enforcement officers and victims of crime across Alabama to announce his 2009 legislative crime package.

. . .

• Photo Voter ID, sponsored by Rep. Greg Canfield and Sen. Larry Dixon. King said this bill is designed to stop voter fraud and corruption that plaque Alabama elections. “Voter fraud continues to be a serious problem throughout Alabama,” King said.

Any person voting in person or by absentee ballot would have to submit valid photo identification. The photo ID would have to be a driver’s license or state ID card from the Department of Public Safety, passports, or other photo ID cards issued by the federal or state governments.

• Felon Voting Bill, sponsored by Rep. Frank Wood. King said this bill would resolve any confusion over which convicted felons are ineligible to vote because their crimes may have involved moral turpitude.

King wants all convicted felons to lose their civil and political rights, including the right to vote.

Top crime agenda: porn, voter fraud and protection of unborn children.

No mention of violent crime, gangs, drugs or corruption.

So sorry Alabama.

2. Voter fraud or Election fraud?
I vote Election fraud. More republican bullshit. You notice this ignores the crimes the repugs like to commit or profit from.

3. I know - wish they'd quit using that term.
Election fraud or vote fraud, not VOTER fraud, which calls into question the integrity of the voter.

6. It ignores the election fraud that stripped Siegelman of his election victory.
He has told the story at BradBlog and in other places.

AL and GA are well beyond the orbit of anything resembling democracy.

the GOP in Alabama is worried about the Democrats picking up a couple of seats in that very Red state.
