Reid: Dems must be ‘very careful’ about overreaching
Source: The Hill

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Tuesday that Democrats have to be “very, very careful” about overreaching.

In an interview with The Hill, Reid argued that it is essential for President-elect Obama and congressional Democrats to work closely with Republicans in the new Congress. He added that 2009 is very different than 1993, the last time Democrats controlled both Congress and the White House.

Just some sage advice from Harry Reid for Obama.

Between Reid and Pelosi, it looks like we have a Reid/Pelosi White House,
with Obama just being a figure head.

56. You need to elect 100 Democrats to the Senate .... of course, one might threaten to filibuster
which means Democrats would have to withdraw any progressive legislation.

6. Gutless, brainless putz . . .
Yes, dems need to "work closely" with 'Licans. After all, the 'Licans' constituents are citizens too. But does that mean bending over and dropping your pants, which has been Reid's practice as majority leader? Does it mean helping them fuck the place over as they did when they were the only game in town?

I don't think so.

Reid has got to go; Pelosi has got to go.

I mean, we gotta wait to push an agenda when we are out of power so we can say "Oh well, until we get power we can't do anything we'd like to do and then not do it when the opportunity presents itself."

We need to push hard to get this spineless fuck removed from his position as Senate Majority Leader.

God knows he's let every goddamned Republican hump him. He's a fucking atrocity. Someone remove this Mormon asshat. No Mormon should ever be in power--they are so incredibly brainwashed. Mormons (and most of the religious dogmatists) are taught to bend over to anyone in 'authority' (I know this from personal experience). He makes me more sick than Pelosi. As long as Reid and Pelosi are in power, being a Democrat is a fucking lose/lose situation. We have a fucking mandate and yet two of our own supposedly most powerful leaders insist on playing the perpetual 'bottoms' in the most disgusting D-grade Republican-made porn imaginable. This truly SUCKS! I'm ready to shed rotten fruit or dog shit to Reid. Gawd knows Pelosi and Reids staff don't give a fuck about people calling in with their concerns.

and he and the rest of his colleagues (both dems and repukes) have to get all their baubles and bangles lined up for transport out of DC...and that will take a while...

in the meantime, why would he care what WE thought we were achieving in the last 2 f***ing elections?

25. Stockholm Syndrome
I think that almost all Democrats in national politics are suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. You know, where hostages start to identify with and sympathize with their captors? They've so internalized GOP talking points about how awful both the Democratic Party and its constituencies are that they don't know how to stand up for what they supposedly believe in. Hence their fear of doing anything remotely progressive because it will be too "divisive" or "out of the mainstream." This mentality is why they also treat their core constituencies like a bunch of lepers, at least *after* they get elected.

I'm truly sick of Reid and his ilk. Why is it that elections only have consequences when Republicans win? When do Democrats get to expect that winning the White House and both houses of Congress will actually translate into some policy victories? As Arianna Huffington said, calling the Democratic leadership in Congress "spineless" is an insult to invertebrates everywhere.

While the Republicans run rough shod over everything, whether they're in the majority or minority - even after following 8 years of an extremely unpopular president?
