Wolfowitz says US must act even on "murky" data
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N27243356.htm

WASHINGTON, July 27 (Reuters) - U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz on Sunday defended the invasion of Iraq as an example of how the United States had to be prepared to act on "murky intelligence" in its war on terrorism.

Wolfowitz was asked in several television interviews about widespread criticism that Washington's rationale for the war -- charges that Iraq had chemical and biological weapons and was collaborating with Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda group -- appeared to have been built on shaky foundations.

No such weapons have been found and little concrete evidence has been presented of an al Qaeda link.

"The nature of terrorism is that intelligence about terrorism is murky," Wolfowitz, one of the architects of the Iraq war, said on the "Fox News Sunday" program.

People like Wolfowitz need psychological intervention. People like him are kept strapped to their beds under a healthy dose of Thorazine.

These are the same Pentagon lunatics that are advocating first use of nukes!

should give justification to beef up intelligence, to plan for counter offensives and tighten up security, but it is NOT justification to bomb the crap out of a country. Sorry Fooloshit, it doesn't work that way.

18. Unless it's data concerning global warming, right?
...or data indicating that their voodoo economics doesn't work?
...or that arsenic in the water supply is bad?
...or data indicating that a pharmaceutical drug is hazardous, or that GM food may present serious dangers over time?
...and so on -- I don't have the heart to continue at the moment.

If we don't get rid of these maniacs pronto, history will be very unkind to us (if it isn't already too late).

19. The U.S. sets precedent for the World

If the U.S. invades other countries using "murky" data, other
countries will do the same. If the U.S. places "kill contracts"
on individuals with massive rewards, then the rest of the world
will do the same, and the U.S. is well aware of that. Regardless
of what was thought of the brothers Hussein, only a Court of Law
could turn what amounts to bad reputations for heinous acts,
into Crime and Punishment. That's International Law. The Rule
of Law.

If GWBII finds comfort in revenge
for attempts by Saddam Hussein to kill his father, by killing
his sons and 14 yr old Grandson (about whom there
is no media discussion), then so be it. I, personally, would
prefer to deal through the Rule of Law than to live my life like
Salmon Rushdie for the next 40 years, but that's his choice.
Iraq is not Afghanistan, it is governed under the Laws of Islam,
which nobody seems to have factored into the pre-invasion equation.

That's my humble opinion.

20. Murky?
How about pulled out of your ass, made up, imaginary intellegence that has nothing to do with reality and everything to do with a land/power grab for the purposes of
a. siezing oil fields
b. siezing land for military bases to replace the ones we are losing in Saudi Arabia
c. keeping Isreal safe
d. siezing a jumping off point for future invasions (with intellegence that is *just as good* as what we used to invade Iraq) agianst Syria and Iran and maybe Kahzakistan...

I'm sorry, Mr. Wolfowitz, but some of us don't want to live in a empire. And now, Mr. One-Day-After-9/11-Let's-Use-This-To-Justify-Attacking-Iraq, you've shown that you are willing to lie to get what you want.

Why should I trust you? A person that would lie to invade a foriegn nation would lie about fooling around on his wife...

26. Who told Americans it was murky?!?!?!?
No one told us that! They all (Wolfowitz, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, and Bush) acted like the data was clear as f*cking Waterford Crystal. Now he says it was murky! He wasn't saying it was murky before we sent half of our troops to Iraq to fight. He wasn't saying that before we were spending $1 billion a week on an occupation.

This is another smoking gun from an extremely overrated pseudo-intellectual by the name of Wolfowitz. He makes me sick.

29. murk-y (adj.): dark; heavy or thick; clouded with sediment
The only thing murky about why the US is in Iraq is the crude oil that Cheney's merry band of kleptocrats is pumping out of its bloodied sands.

by negotiating murky deals with the Taliban and not even listening to the infos and warnings given to them by the same Taliban. A bunch of greedy pompous imbeciles used to give orders right and left. Incompetent at the very best. But since, as usual, the truth will never come out, they'll get away with it.

34. Was it "darn good" or was it "murky"? Lies, lies and more lies.
President Bush said Monday he had "darn good intelligence" on Iraq despite his disputed State of the Union claim that Baghdad sought to purchase uranium from Africa.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/07/14/white.house.intel/

Did the intelligence briefing Bush receive in August, 2001 about the impending massive terrorist attack against the US using hijacked airplanes contain "darn good" intelligence or "murky" intelligence?

If the government has "murky" evidence that someone might commit a crime should the government preemptively execute that person? Evidently.
