Suspended MP Memoirs Stolen (Galloway)
http://www.teletext.com/news/story.asp?intArticleID=58615&intarticlenumber=14&intRegionID=19&intSubsectionID=1&From=I&indent=2

<snip>

Mr Galloway arrived at his Iberian retreat on Friday to discover the computer with the work on file missing.

The Glasgow Kelvin MP, suspended from Labour after he denounced the war on Iraq, said the burglary appeared to be no "ordinary crime".

...note - very short newsblurb...

1. Galloway was suspended? because he "denounced the
war on Iraq"? Well are they going to get him back now that they see he was right freakin' on?

How sad to have your whole life on paper stolen! I hope this works out for him!

8. Galloway suspended from Labour
because he told soldiers not to follow orders and not to fight, because the war was illegal.

Basically the the same as some German was suspended (or worse) for speaking against the crimes that were judged later in Nurenberg. Blairites have thrown out Galloway, Ken livingstone and most of the unions out from the party. It is interesting to remark that these people have more loyalty to Labour party and it's ideals than Blair ever did. And also they are not the ones loosing popularity, but Blair is.

I have started to hate all Blair apologists, including Polly Toynbee and other wishfull thinkers saying that the war criminal should change his ways.

You don't give war criminals benefit of doubt and certainly not second chance to amend their ways. You put them in jail. Fuck you Polly Toynbee and other Guardian apologists.

9. As far as I know
This is the first time (recently) in a Western democracy that an elected official has been suspended simply for something he has said.

This is why I like the U.S. - you actually have freedom of speech.

2. This man never heard of the concept: backup disks?
Multiple disks in multiple places? It was ALL on the idiot's hard drive?

Well, really, how dumb.

3. It doesn't matter if he does have
other copies. The point is that the memoirs were stolen.

Now, who would steal the memoirs?

Could it be that Labour supporters of the war want the story so that they can prepare a rebuttal to any charges he might make?

Remember when a Repubican found out what Jimmy Carter was planning to say in the Carter-Reagan presidential debates? And Reagan used the info to prepare his speech?

Someone (I think Rove) sent a tape of Bush practicing for the Bush-Gore debate. The Democrats sent the tape back as soon as they realized what they had. Gore never got any of the info. And, of course, the press still portrayed Gore as being dishonest.

4. bad link?
that took me to the armstrong story. checked the headlines and it wasn't listed with israel, manila, marine killed, BA future or the liberia headlines.

http://www.teletext.com/news/headlines.asp?intregionid=19&intSubsectionID=101&indent=1

there'd be no reasonable reason for them taking it down, would there?

6. That is teletext
A form of news system transmitted over UK television (inserted into the radio stream and decoded by TV's). The website rotates headlines constantly.

7. But check out the online poll: Should Campbell resign?
Downing Street has dismissed claims that spin doctor Alastair Campbell is to quit. Do you think the Government would be better off without him?

Results breakdown:

Yes: 84%

No: 16%
