Venezuela's Citgo Resumes Heating Oil Donations

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuela's Citgo Petroleum Corp. resumed deliveries of free heating oil to poor Americans on Thursday, making its first delivery since the program's rumored end.

Together with Boston-based partner Citizen's Energy Corp., Citgo delivered more than 200 gallons of heating oil to the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker House, a transitional shelter in Washington, D.C.

"It's so cold, apartment rents are so high, and people are out of work," said volunteer and resident Kathy Boylan, 65, in a telephone interview from Washington about the 4-year-old program. "People need this help tremendously."

The American heating oil program has been viewed as a jab at Chavez's nemesis, former President George W. Bush, by helping needy Americans in their own country. Last winter, the program provided free fuel to more than 200,000 households in 23 states.

2. But capitalist oil is only for those who can afford it...
Despite its $45+ billion profit, you don't see Exxon-Mobil being charitable, do you? Or any of the other "American" oil companies that realy are not "American" when it comes to being "American" corporations that pay American taxes.

Wonder how long it will take for the "American" oil companies to convince Barack Obama that Chavez is a threat to democracy. Which translated means a threat to their monopolization of the American market. Which translated means their ability to find new ways to manipulate the market and charge us higher prices for gasoline and everything else including heating oil for our homes.

Their profits are obscene. The time finally has come to tax the bastards. On all their income. Not just their "American" income.

3. and why isn't our government doing this?
Oh, that's right - banks need money. Because people that can't afford heat in the winter really care about banks being solvent.

4. Chavez gets it. It's about helping PEOPLE. I'm sure he does get some satisfaction
from "stickin' it" to *, even after the fact.

The * administration has vilified this man for a reason......he makes them look like the evil vermin that they are.

Sulfur, indeed.

Wish Chavez would do this and bring to attention the inept governance and the self serving ignorance of Palin.
