Protesters rally against World Economic Forum
Source: Reuters

GENEVA/DAVOS, Switzerland (Reuters) - Hundreds of people rallied in Geneva and Davos Saturday to protest against the World Economic Forum, saying the elite gathered for it annual meeting are not qualified to fix the world's problems.

Carrying banners reading 'You are the Crisis' and throwing snowballs, several hundred protesters marched to fences surrounding the heavily guarded Hotel Seehof in the Davos ski resort, where many world leaders and business people stay during the forum.

Protester Alex Heideger, a member of the Davos Green Party, said these were the people to blame for the economic mess.

"It's the same people who came last year and said the world economic situation is fine, and now we're in a financial crisis. Now it's the taxpayer who has to solve the whole problem.

I was wondering when the notation of the hypocracy by protestors would be reported on.

4. Y'know, I'm always reading that place name as "Davros". Now it becomes clear why.
My subconscious is shrewder than I am, clearly.

sapiently,

12. Brilliant!
Anyone up for starting a petition to officially rename Davos to Davros? I am a web developer and could build it pretty quickly. It would probably only be funny to a select few, but you can count me in. If anybody is interested, send me a private message and we can start chatting via email.

6. They are the Crisis AND they are the POLLUTERS too.
So that makes them even LESS qualified.

All the extinct species (and those yet to come) constitute the obvious EVIDENCE.

7. Now that the crap has hit the fan...
protests make more sense. Recall the volume of scoffing and disdain when in prior years the WTO assemblies were protested. Perhaps the individual reasons were various, but the sum of those reasons could be "the system is rotten, run by crooks and based upon the poverty of many supporting the wealth of a few". I think its more clear to people now.

19. Are more people ticked off, more people just that much more angry, or
is the media finally starting to report this stuff???

Thank God it's happening. I wanted to do the protest of Bank of America, but could not as they aren't in our area.

I'm fed up with all of this and I still have a job. Those that are without work...I just can't imagine. Hugs to you all.

I wanna hit the streets, but since nothing has been local, I have been furiously writing LTTEs this week.

23. Check this out
Three senior economists who work for the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis claim that the current credit freeze crisis began as vastly overstated fear mongering very similar to the run up to the invasion of Iraq. Surely this is another case of criminality by the Bush-Cheney gang.
