Aribert Heim, Most Wanted Nazi, Died In Cairo In 1992: Reports

CAIRO — Documents have surfaced in Egypt showing the world's most-wanted Nazi war criminal, concentration camp doctor Aribert Heim, died in Cairo in 1992, Germany's ZDF television and The New York Times reported Wednesday.

The report said Heim was living under a pseudonym and had converted to Islam by the time of his death from intestinal cancer.

ZDF said that in a joint effort with the New York Times, it located a passport, application for a residence permit, bank slips, personal letters and medical papers _ in all more than 100 documents _ left behind by Heim in a briefcase in the hotel room where he lived under the name Tarek Hussein Farid.

Though he did not know Heim's real identity, Egyptian dentist Tarek Abdelmoneim el Rifai said he knew him through his father, Abdelmoneim el Rifai, 88, who was Heim's dentist in Cairo.

He told the AP on Wednesday that he only met Heim a few times, 20 years ago, but confirmed that he knew of his death.

"He died in 1992. I didn't know that he was a doctor and that he is the most wanted Nazi war criminal. I am surprised," he said in a telephone interview.

Justice delayed is justice denied. This POS should have been prosecuted for his crimes, not given aid and comfort.

4. As were many of America's industrialists and media magnates.
Walt Disney and heroes like Charles Lindbergh and Ambassadors like Joseph Kennedy were known nazi sympathizers.

Did we mention the Duke of Windsor in the UK?

7. Don't forget Henry Ford,
who received a citation from the Fuhrer for his assistance in modernizing Germany's industrial processes. Or General Motors, which owned factories in Europe that produced vehicles for the Reich's military (and received war reparations from the US government to cover the costs of damages to those factories incurred during allied bombing raids.) How about the Bush family fortunes from the slave laborers at Thyssen Industries?

8. Ford published a lot of virulent anti-Semitic crap
There is a historical link between anti-Semitism and anti-Socialism, and notable anti-semites and anti-union luminaries like Henry Ford and William Hearst are prime examples.

It all needs to be brought out. Somebody knew about this.

20. All that's been brought out? Hardly. Not here in the US, nor in the rest of the world
It's actually quite amazing how many people and corporations aided and supported the Nazis before and during WWII, and how many Nazi criminals were shielded and sheltered in the US and abroad.

Ford, GM, IBM, Union Pacific are just a few of the US corporations that benefited from their Nazi associations. The Bushes and Kennedys are just two of the groups of people who also benefited from their Nazi association.

There is a dark thread of fascism that runs through this country, both before and after Hitler's rise and fall. Who knows if it will all ever come to light.

However, this country is filled from top to bottom with illiterates. It's actually shocking to me how little people care to know. They actually don't want to know.

5. In her autobiography
Golda Meir reported that captured soldiers (from Syria, Egypt, etc.) in the ongoing conflicts routinely had in their rucksacks two books; the Israelis knew that one was the Koran, and assumed the other to be a field manual. They were stunned to discover that the second book was an Arabic translation of Mein Kampf.

23. Yes.
It was part of the Camp David agreement--both Israel and Egypt get significant amounts of military aid.

They undoubtedly get more, but then again it's essentially a large, messy 3rd world country that, well, is too big to fail.

27. That was in 1967, the NAZI connections were dropped soon afterward
Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 01:11 AM by happyslug
First because it upset the Russians, who these countries were becoming more and more depended on for weapons (For example the Syrians in the 1967 still had in service some WWII German Panzer IVs, for which they needed former Nazi support to maintain, but even these were replaced by Russian T-54s after 1967).

Second, as the younger generation rejected Arab Nationalism (Which copied many aspects of Nazism, including providing cover for many Nazis after WWII) for what we now call radical Islam, Nazism came to be looked at a failed and unpopular doctrine among the people of the Arab Countries. Thus Neo-Nazism died a slow death in the 1970s, being replaced by Radical Islam. The Ruling elite of most Arab Countries prefer Arab Nationalism (Arab Noe-Nazism) and apparently still embrace it, the populace reject it, preferring Radical Islam. Radical Islam (For example the Moslem Brotherhood in Egypt) does NOT tolerate the corruption rampant among the ruling elite in the Arab word, a corruption based more on Nazism than Islam. Given this trend, Mein Kamf has been out of favor since the 1970s and the Ruling Elite will NOT permit anything else to replace it for fears that anything else would lead the soldiers to overthrow the existing Governments of the Mid-East.

Remember, during and right after WWII, the Arab countries were doing they best to throw out the French and British forces occupying their countries. Britain was so afraid of the Iraq Army (Which still existed, even after the British took over all of Iraq in early 1941) that it put it on rations BELOW the level needed to survive (The purpose was to force the soldiers to use any free time to look for food NOT plan to kick out the British). With the end of WWII, many Germans used their connections with the various ruling elites of the Mid East to hide out, providing various types of assistance to the ruling elite, including how to maintain their military equipment, their police etc. Many of these Nazis liked Hitler's thinking and wanted the people of the Middle East to think along the same line. Thus these Nazis convinced the Arab Leadership that they should read Mein Kamf and have in translated so it would inspire the Arab troops. Apparently Mein Kamf did not inspire the common arab soldier but this Nazi Support for the Arabs continued well into the 1960s. Starting in the 1960s these Nazi started to die out (Remember we are talking of the leadership of the Nazis, who tended to be in their 40s during WWII, thus into their 60s by the 1960s, we are NOT talking about the Common WWII German Soldier who was only in his early 20s during WWII but the generation that lead Germany into WWII who tended to be in their 40s and 50s during WWII).

With this die off of the Nazis, the Arabs looked for someone else to counterbalance the Western Powers. The Arabs had previously rejected the Soviet Union for the Soviet Union had been the First Country to Recognize, de jure (by law or right) Israel (The US had been the first to recognize Israel, but only De facto, i.e. in fact and was one of the last countries to recognize Israel "Right" to exist by recognizing it De Jure many months later). Furthermore the Arab Elite hated the idea of Communism, more do to the fact the ruling elite did NOT want to give up their holdings and power then anything else. By the 1960s, with the Russians assistance in building the Aswan High Dam in Egypt most of these objections were forgotten. In the need for new equipment for their military the Arabs turned to the Russians who started to modify their equipment for Arab needs (The Russian Equipment had had a problem with high temperatures while building the Aswan Dam, so much that British Equipment had to be brought in to finish the job, but the Russians learn a lot and quickly modified their equipment, not quick enough to finish the Aswan dam, but quick enough for the Arabs to replace their old WWII, British, American and German Equipment with Russian Equipment. One cost of this change was the pro-Nazi stands of most of the Arab world had to end, and did end. While most of the Nazis died off in the 1960s and 1970s, many lived long afterward. Forgotten by their host as far as other countries were concerned. Such people stayed on Government pay do to past usefulness, and often brought back into service for new threats (i.e. how to handle the raise of Islamic Radicals as opponents of the existing Corrupt Government). Many of these Nazis could give good advice on how to do surveillance of such groups, how much to give in to them, and how to keep them under control (Crushing them was probably discussed, but given the widespread support for these radicals, as the only real opposition to the ruling elite, simply NOT possible or worse, force the people into the streets to protect the radicals and once into the streets the Government would fall, thus crushing them was never an option.

24. Let me save you the trouble

Certain forces looked at the matter at hand. There were two main power blocs in Europe. There was Britain & France -- they knew all about Britain & France, because they ran their governments and armies; that wasn't working out so well -- and then there was Germany & Italy. Italy was on enemy footing in its own right with regards to Libya, Somalia and Ethiopia, but somewhat less so than the primary imperialist forces. Germany arrived late on the empire building game and was largely restricted in activites to China and sub-Saharan Africa. With these forces at work, some thought that the defeat of the nearby-enemy by a more distant enemy would be preferable. There's not too much complicated there. I already know about the "Grand Mufti" business.

25. Here's the story of the Grand Mufti "business:"
I guess this set the foundation for the Palestinians. Nice foundation.

http://www.jewishpress.com/page.do/14111/Hitler&%2339%3Bs_Arab_Allies.html

...Around this time, the Mufti became a paid agent of the Nazi Abwehr and was put in
charge of counterintelligence and sabotage. When the British stopped a shipment of arms to the
Mufti in Palestine through Saudi Arabia and Iraq, the Mufti re-located to Baghdad where he
directed Arab and Nazi finance, diplomacy, and propaganda.

In 1941, the Mufti inspired a pro-Nazi coup in Iraq led by General Rashid Ali.
Collaborating with his masters in Berlin, he declared a Jihad against Britain, which he called "the
greatest foe of Islam." The British backed a successful counter-coup and the Mufti proceeded on
to Berlin where he was appointed by the Nazis as titular head of a Nazi-pan Arab government in
exile.

On November 21, 1941 the Mufti met with Hitler and recorded the following in his diary:

"The Arabs are Germany's natural friends... They are therefore prepared to cooperate with
Germany with all their hearts and stood ready to participate in a war, not only negatively by the
commission of act of sabotage and the instigation of revolutions, but also positively by the
formation of an Arab Legion. In this struggle, the Arabs were striving for the independence and
the unity of Palestine, Syria and Iraq. ...Germany was resolved, step by step, to ask one European
nation after the other to solve its Jewish problem, and at the proper time direct a similar appeal tonon-European nations as well. Hitler. Germany's objective would then be solely the destruction
of the Jewish element residing in the Arab sphere under the protection of British power. The
moment that Germany's tank divisions and air squadrons had made their appearance south of
Caucasus, the public appeal requested by the Grand Mufti could go out to the Arab world."

Hitler and the Mufti were planning to first exterminate the Jews of Europe and then the
Jews of the Middle East. The Mufti, who visited Nazi death camps several times, organized
support for the Nazis among Muslims in Russia, the Balkans, and the Middle East. He headed the
"Arab Bureau" in Berlin where he directed a massive network of Arab-Nazi collaborators;
organized tens of thousands of Bosnian and Albanian Muslim into military units known as
Handschar divisions which carried out atrocities against Yugoslav Jews, Serbs and Gypsies; and
attempted to organize an Arab-Nazi Legion. (Handschar fighters would be discovered battling
against Israeli independence in 1948.)

In 1943, in a speech in Berlin, the Mufti stated:

"The Treaty of Versailles was a disaster for the Germans as well as for the Arabs. But the
Germans know how to get rid of the Jews...."

On 1 March 1944, in a radio broadcast to the Arab people from Berlin, the Mufti stated:

"Arabs! Rise as one and fight for your sacred rights. Kill the Jews wherever you find
them. This pleases God, history, and religion. This saves your honor."

Declared a war criminal at Nuremberg, the Mufti would spend the rest of his life living in
opulence in Cairo. His broadcasts, pamphlets, intelligence network and sabotage against Israel
would continue on even after his death in 1974.

In his memoirs, he wrote: "Our fundamental condition for cooperating with Germany was
a free hand to eradicate every last Jew from Palestine and the Arab world. I asked Hitler for an
explicit undertaking to allow us to solve the Jewish problem in a manner befitting our national
and racial aspirations and according to the scientific methods innovated by Germany in the
handling of its Jews.

"The answer I got was: "The Jews are yours.' "

Like India and Palestine, Egypt was occupied by Britain before & during the war and was ruled through the puppet dictator King Farouk. Bit of a difference there.

Perhaps Karma trumped justice after all is said and done.
