Whether it's this incident, Ashley Todd, Susan Smith, etc. People are such liars, and usually -- thankfully -- pretty dumb and uncreative ones.

It may be that things change as more specifics are posted on this case, but hasn't the nation turned backwards in these matters, Obama's election notwithstanding?

Is it possible that, as inthe traduition of the Old South, local Bushie Sheriffs and Cops have colluded to frame this woman?

As I said, I am unsure, but I find Official Stories of all kinds suspect, these days.

More information is needed, and it may be this woman is a villain, or the victim of a nefarious boyfriend who when he saw the cops had framed him good, made a survival decision, flipped and took the plea, testifying to the lie in exchange for a light sentence.

It's not like shit like that doesn't happen all the time And it's not like Forsyth County, GA hasn't been ground zero for some of the most hateful people in America in the past.

I just don't know. One doesn't want to let criminals go free, but I wonder, with the wholesale Bushification of Law Enforcement through Homeland Security lucre, if some "old practices" with a smarter, subtler Bushie "twist" for Plausible Deniability purposes haven't been revived as everything else that has been Bushified, down in the Old South.

I'll say one thing. Given how very little specific illuminating information the OP's article actually gives, is it not the case that BOTH sides of this debate over what really happened have both jumped the gun insanely over the scantiest bits of information.

I live just a very few miles south of Cumming where this woman is from, on the north side of Atlanta. She is in Forsyth County, one of the alltime redneck racist counties in the country. Look up the history of Forsyth County. It has changed a little as suburban Atlanta has moved northward, but this whole state is still very racist. The minute I read the original story I never questioned it at all because I know the Cumming area and this would be no surprise. I am not a stupid, unquestioning, naive person at all and I am not ever quick to believe anything and everything. But...unless you are from here don't criticize those who were ready to declare that her story was true. Everything about the original story rang true if you know Cumming and Forsyth County and lots of other areas of Georgia, even today. Even my husband and I who live in a very upscale area did not put an Obama sticker on our cars, sad to say, and were harrassed online by neighbors who knew we were for Obama.

Everyone is so quick to bash southerners, it's like the Civil War ended last year, not over 100 years ago.

And in this case, if they set their own home on fire and blamed others - they DESERVE bashing. Hell, big ole Boot slapped upside their head -- and then hand them to the cops.

I believe absolutely that she was framed. Not a shadow of a doubt in my mind about it.

If she comes out and admitted she set the fire herself, it would be a different story, but that hasn't happened.

I know what right-wing counties are capable of, and that includes framing people.

What's insane and Hannity-like, is that you arrived at 100% certainty with less actuial information on a topic than Hannity usually does. It sounded like you were pronouncing it a slam-dunk certainty of her guilt, and thus her 100% discreditation. (which is certainly possible)

Even if not, you should consider what I have said about the Bushification and re-KKK-ification of our various Law Enforcement Branches up to and including the DOJ. Can Obama fix it to a reasonable approximation of what it was, with Bushie cabals planted inside to keep their totalitarian vision of a captive DOJ alive until Obama is gone, and the Bushies come back in 4 or 8 years and pick up like they were never gone?

This is basically what happened during Clinton, only obviously the problem is MUCH further along, much bigger and more difficult to reverse by "legal" means (the Bushies have indeed taken the nazi strategy of detsroying from within to heart) as it is the parasitized law enforcement and Bushified agencies, like their nazified counterparts of the 1930s from which the criminals were tasked with enforcing the laws.
