Gen. Says Saddam Too Busy Moving to Attack

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Saddam Hussein is moving around to avoid capture and is unable to direct attacks against American forces, the highest-ranking U.S. military officer said Sunday.

Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, visited 4th Infantry commanders in Tikrit and later told reporters in Baghdad that Saddam "was too busy trying to save his own skin" to lead the insurgency against American forces.

"He is so busy surviving he is having no impact on the security situation here," Myers said. "It's a big country, but we'll find him."

Hours earlier, a U.S. soldier was killed south of Baghdad. The military provided little information about the 2:35 a.m. attack, which brought to 48 the number of U.S. forces killed in combat in Iraq since President Bush declared major combat over on May 1.

Haven't BushCo and Rumsfeld been saying that Saddam has been behind the attacks on US troops?

1. How much does it take
to say 'attack the invaders?'

I doubt he is personally shooting anyone, or personally leading raids.

2. so riddle me this...

If all these attacks are perpetuated by "bitter-enders" and Saddam is "too busy running" to do anything, why does it matter if we get him or not?

4. all the cheesey blather about Saddam
makes me think they are going to "catch" a badly charred, bullet riddled Saddam body double, then put 15 pounds of putty on his face to "convince" us.

Give me a break, he fled the country about 10 to 12 days into the war, just as the Iraqi military disbanded. This is their big PR coup, "we got Saddam"....bullshit.

At this point its not going to make a damn bit of difference anyway in Iraq.....but it sure might "boost poll numbers" :eyes:

5. Yep, they were just saying that

How they get away with contradicting themselves like this kills me.

Two more examples I just can't get over:

Scumsfeld claimed just before the invasion that we KNEW where wmds are something like: "around Tikrit and Baghdad, to the east and west and north and south, somewhat." And Wolfoshitz said just days ago that we don't know where the weapons are, and never did.

AND

Little hitler himself said recently, in attempting to justify the attack, that he'd asked saddam to let the inspectors in, and saddam said no!!!!!!!

Sometimes I feel like I'm on some hidden-camera show, and not yet in on the joke.
