Senator (Bunning) apologizes for Ginsburg remark
Source: MSNBC

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. - U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning said his support for conservative judges may come into play shortly because one of the Supreme Court's liberal members, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, could die in less than a year from pancreatic cancer.

Ginsburg has "bad cancer. The kind that you don't get better from," the two-term Kentucky Republican said during a 30-minute Lincoln Day dinner speech Saturday in Elizabethtown, according to the Courier-Journal of Louisville.

Bunning put out a written apology on Monday, saying he did not mean to offend Ginsburg, adding "It is great to see her back at the Supreme Court and I hope she recovers quickly."

Oh dear. God bless Justice Ginsburg.

Prayers for her. I do not agree with her politically but I would not wish this disease on anyone.

Those were just a few of the many kind posts found there. An unexpected spark of compassion.

8. Now there's some of that good Christian love, right?
Hoping someone will die a painful death just so the Republicans can work to get their own platform in place.

This man should be ashamed of himself!

15. Let's re-read that quote, shall we?
"his support for conservative judges may come into play shortly"

In what alternate universe, exactly?

What a loon.

18. Memo to Sen. Bunning -
"Ginsburg was in court Monday, 18 days after undergoing surgery.

The American Cancer Society estimates that 20 percent to 24 percent of patients whose pancreatic cancer is caught early survive five years."

emphasis mine for the clueless Sen. from Kentucky

That's the key word, and it's the hallmark of a non-apology.

He didn't apologize for what he said, he apologized "IF HIS COMMENTS OFFENDED JUSTICE GINSBERG (SIC)"

22. Licking his chops over trying to stop any Obama appointee.
Time to recall the GOP tactics in re Roberts and Alito. The Dems COULD push a SCOTUS appointee through if they decide to play rough enough -- which they damn-well should.

25. Why is this crazy motherfucker still in the Senate?
What the hell is wrong with the residents of Kentucky? They should have got rid of him in '04 when he was already showing signs of dementia.

Hopefully McConnell, Cornyn, et al won't be able to force him out of his reelection bid. He's raised something like 150 000 which is really quite poor. Being that it's an off year election, Dems would certainly target this state. It'd be tough, but more doable than a presidential election year, where this state has become as red as they come.
