Pakistan Accused of Link to Kabul Attacks
Source: New York Times

KABUL, Afghanistan -- A group of suicide bombers who stormed the Justice Ministry and a prison department building in the Afghan capital last month were trained in Pakistan’s lawless border region, according to Afghan intelligence officials.

The attack on Feb.11, which left 26 dead people and more than 50 wounded, was conducted by eight armed men wearing suicide vests, and has been compared to the militant attacks in Mumbai, India in November and against the Sri Lankan cricket team in the Pakistani city of Lahore March 4.

The attackers’ aim was to kill as many people as possible, Sayed Ansari, a spokesman for the National Security Directorate, said at a news briefing in Kabul Wednesday. They also intended to take hostages inside the Justice Ministry and demand the release of Taliban prisoners being held in Afghan jails, he said.

Seven accomplices have been since been arrested during investigations, and several more killed in a raid in Logar Province south of the capital, Mr. Ansari said. At least one of those arrested has said he was trained in Waziristan by a Pakistani named Mohammad Haris, who Mr. Ansari said organized the operation.

1. Most of the terrorism is centered in Pakistan.
It is actively supported and funded by the Pakistani military and ISI. Unfortunately, we keep funding them in the hopes of making them help us but we end up supporting the very people we are fighting against.

2. tell something new
yawn ... what else is new?

unfortunate as it is - Pakistan is the nerve center of global terrorism. while china is global manufacturing hub; India the global service hub; Pakistan is the global terrorism hub. No amount of external pressure & incentives can remove this terror infrastructure. Pakistan can dismantle the terrorist network through internal realization & effort

4. hmm (?)
where was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (9/11 planner)located? Pakistan
Where did the 7/7 London perpetrators get trained? Where was it planned? Pakistan
Where does OBL goes into hiding when pursued by US & NATO soldiers? Pakistan-Afghanistan border?
who is responsible for Kabul Indian Embassy bombing; Mumbai terror attack; Pakistan trained militants.

The first step to counter the terrorism is for Pakistan to acknowledge that it's soil is being used for terrorism. Unles they do that, they wouldn't be able to fight it

5. Not to mention which state really transfered its nuclear technology to countries
that are now problems? Pakistan, which was the country of AQ Khan. Pakistan was also the home of BCCI, which was the financial system of many of the terrorists including OBL.

Pakistan is the trickiest problem that Obama faces. It is an unstable country with nuclear weapons. Looking at the region it is in shows makes the problem look even worse. Between their, now generations long hostilities with India, and their sponsorship of the Taliban in Afghanistan in the first place there are enough different problems to make your head spin.

In 2008, Democrats like Obama, Biden and Kerry and Republicans like Lugar and Hagel all spoke of the Afghanistan problem really being Afghanistan/Pakistan. As you say, it is the hub of global terrorism.
