Ignatieff: Canada 'left on the sidelines' on Afghanistan

Canada is being left on the sidelines as U.S. President Barack Obama revamps the military mission in Afghanistan, Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff said yesterday.

"I admire President Obama," Mr. Ignatieff said in a speech to party supporters in Laval, Que. "But I don't want our strategy in Afghanistan, or anywhere else, to be defined by Washington. That's what Harper is currently allowing."

He should quite whining. Obama's his best way out of the morass for which his own interventionist posturing laid much of the groundwork while he was slumming it as a media "intellectual" in Britain (i.e. someone who can read and identify which piece of furniture is the TV camera).
