Miss California (Prejean) in breach of contract, officials say

Officials with the Miss California USA Pageant said today in Beverly Hills that title-holder Carrie Prejean is in breach of contract and "entered the contest under false pretenses." Donald Trump, who owns the Miss USA pageant, will decide tomorrow whether she will keep her crown.

Prejean didn't inform contest officials about her involvement with anti-gay marriage organizations and failed to show up for public appearances as required under her contract with the Miss USA organization, said Keith Lewis and Shannon Moakler, co-executive directors of Miss California USA.

Prejean's brief reign has been clouded by controversy over semi-nude photos and her comments on gay marriage. She made national headlines last month when during the Miss USA pageant she said that marriage should be between a man and woman.

Now, Miss California officials say they are looking into whether Prejean violated rules by working for a group opposed to gay marriage and by posing semi-nude. It's unclear whether she could lose her California crown if officials determine that she broke the rules. Prejean has said she did nothing wrong.

If they have her scheduled to make an appearance and she doesn't it makes the Miss Ca group look bad, but only Trump is allowed to fire her. Looks like her OFFICIAL 15 minutes might be nearly over and she'll join the ranks of JTP trying to get whatever else she can.

is the runner up in the Miss California contest, who had the chance to compete for Miss USA and maybe even win, if Carrie Prejean hadn't decided that honesty and legally binding contracts weren't really rules she had to follow.

.........getting into at that point of a state contest. AND, most of them have had some kind of surgeries to enhance themselves and also taken some questionable pictures at one time or another. I have NEVER watched ANY of those type of "pageants". I don't want this to sound sexist, but in my opinion most if not all the contestants are "whoring" themselves by entering this kind of BS beauty contests.

"Whore" is a word I try not to use, anyway, but when it's directed at a group of women, I really don't see how it can't be sexist. The implication of the word is obvious--it's a word meaning "a woman who has sex more often than others think she should," roughly. So even if used about a man, to me it's sexist because of how what the insult is supposed to mean. To me, calling a white guy by the N word is racist, not because of the attack on the white guy, but because the white guy is supposed to be insulted by being called a derogatory term for an African American. Same with the F word for gays, or any other number of slurs. Calling a lobbyist a "whore" (Won't even get into the debate about lobbyists for the environment, for homeless causes, etc) is saying he's bad because he's like a woman who has sex more often than society wants her to. The sexism isn't to the lobbyist, it's to all women. Calling a group of women "whores" because they enter a pagent, to me, is doubly sexist--because of the use of the word, and because of the demand that they fit someone else's standard of behavior for women.

Just my opinions. Form your own, there's no law. But I was commenting only on your use of the word, not on you or your character. Not sure if your last comment was directed at me or at people who insult pagents.

In my opinion (and I am not using Websters) a whore can be anyone who sells themselves out for money or power in pursuit of something that ANY REASONABLE person would think is immoral, dishonest or in some way petty or in no way contributes to society in a useful way. My last statement in the piece was directed at a lot of liberals that want to "jump the gun" right away if someone uses what they think is the "wrong" term. I think if you are going to use certain words that the whole context of a particular piece has to be taken into consideration. A perfect example of what I am trying to convey is comedy. In comedy it is the context of the piece that makes it funny, no matter what words may be used, you know what is meant and you laugh, you don't (usually) get offended.

I am probably going to get in some trouble here, but for instance the word "nigger" used to call a person of color is a horrible, disgusting word that is used to denigrate or belittle said person. BUT, I believe that if you are (in a written or spoken piece) using the word to for instance describe the horrible way a person (any person) was or is being treated by an employer, his government or by a certain section of the population it is acceptable to use it, IN THAT CONTEXT. I have for years used "swear words" when I am describing certain things, and have said that "they are only words". I think you have to be very careful here, as some people like yourself, thought I meant something entirely different than what I intended.

On edit: Ok, now I see you are objecting to a specific word. No, I can't say that I recall feminists using that particular word to describe pageant contestants. Their issue was more like the pageants exploited and objectified women.

I'm betting he backs her up. For a woman "nude or semi nude" usually means that the viewer can see at least one of three areas, breasts, genitals or backside. In her picture, the only thing nude that the viewer could see was her back. And she says that the second picture that surfaced was her face, but not her body.

If he let an alcoholic stay one, he'll let Prejean stay on. He's already saying things like, "She was asked a question and she has beliefs, which she stated."

Thing is, if he let the alcoholic go, that would have ended the free publicity around her and his contest. By keeping her on, he got a few more shots, when she came out of rehab, etcc. And, IMO, so it will be with Prejean: the longer she stays, the more pubicity for his pageant. Doesn't matter if it's good or bad publicity, as long as they spell the name of his pageant correctly.

which would imply so. Thats all that was not shown in the first picture. I think the bigger problem though is she told pageant officials that there was only one photo and it was taken when she was 17 (both have been proven to be false and are a breach of contract).

She's already launched her religious wing nut career.

She doesn't need that title anymore. She'll get far more publicity and monetary gains from the anti-gay, religious right industry than she ever would have as just a ribbon cutter for Miss USA events and shopping mall openings.

How many of us can even name an event that the last Miss California participated in? Shit, how many of us can even name the last Miss California?

it's the fact that she's a liar. She should have come clean when she signed the contract with the pageant about the pics (ALL of them). Then she had the opportunity to come clean again when she was faced with the first set of photos, too. I guess she thinks it's ok to only believe that part about the Bible which will suit her own pride and need for attention and skip over everything else.
