Blagojevich trial may happen by April, federal judge says

A federal judge said Monday he would like ex-Gov. Rod Blagojevich to go on trial by April on corruption charges.

If that proves too ambitious, though, U.S. District Judge James Zagel said he wants the trial starting by July 2010 at the latest.

Zagel said he believes both sides can be ready by then despite what Blagojevich's defense has described as a mountain of evidence to go through.

"If that's what the judge says he's gonna do, that's what we're gonna do," said lawyer Sam Adam Jr., promising the defense would be ready.

Prosecutors estimated for the judge that their case would take about three months to present to a jury.

2. After the initial news blitz about all this...

I'm thinking he might get off. I'm not so sure he did anything illegal. We'll see, but it kind of looks like a railroading to me.
