Foreign Minister Warns Israel Won't Solve Iran's Nuclear Problem For Rest Of Region

(AP) Israel does not intend to bomb Iran, Israel's foreign minister said Wednesday in the most explicit comments on the matter to date by a top minister of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government.

Speaking at the end of a three-day visit to Russia, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Tehran's nuclear program is the world's problem, not just Israel's, and that its Arab neighbors should be even more concerned about the prospect of a nuclear-armed Iran than Israel is.

But he said those countries should not expect Israel to solve this problem for them.

The comments marked a softening of signals from Netanyahu's hardline government - particularly coming from Lieberman, one its leading hawks.

"We do not intend to bomb Iran, and nobody will solve their problems with our hands," Lieberman told reporters. "We don't need that. Israel is a strong country, we can protect ourselves.

1. "Israel's... Arab neighbors ...should not expect Israel to solve this problem for them."
There you go, back the fuck off! No one asked you to police the Middle East, anyway. Aren't there a few Palestinians who are still alive, whom you could be making miserable or dead?! ASSWIPES!

How nice of Israel.

Can they protect themselves without US aid? And help from US citizens?

5. This is very encouraging. A job well done by Russia on helping them find the proper perspective.
This is indeed a problem more properly and effectively addressed by the world. For Israel to act unilaterally can only take a bad thing and make it worse.

Exactamundo! This announcement is to Moscow's credit first, not from much meaningful homegrown 'pressure'.

11. Russia is Iran's big brother so to speak. Like we are Israels big brother.
This is the right approach. I hope we can have equal success come from our meeting with Iran. But ultimately it's up to the big brothers to find a way for the lil brother to play nice. It's far better than allowing the lil brothers to drag us into a fight neither one of us has ever wanted.

7. Good.
I don't think that Israel - or any Arab state - or America really wants to bomb Iran at present. Probably none of these countries would mind if *someone else* did it for them - but no one is going to, unless something very unlikely happens. There will continue to be a lot of sabre-rattling to Iran, and by Iran, and hopefully it won't develop into anything further.

12. "Iran's Nuclear Problem " - what exactly is that? - is it like Iraq's WMDs ?
.
.
.

Even IF Iraq had chemical and other weapons, they would be of no danger to the USA

Look at the composition of the so-called "coalition of the willing" that invaded and occupied Iraq

Was any of that "coalition of the willing" Iraq's neighbors?

NO

Iraq's neighbors were not overly concerned about Iraq's politics.

IF Iran manages to acquire nuclear weapon capability - SO WHAT??

Iran can never match the nuclear power or the USA, or Russia, or India, or China, or Israel - etc., etc.

So what is the big deal?
