New Miss California USA also against gay marriage
Source: Associated Press

Miss California USA's executive director says the pageant would never try to silence new titleholder Tami Farrell's stance against gay marriage.

Keith Lewis told The Associated Press on Friday that he wants all of the beauty contestants he deals with to be able to voice their opinions as long as they don't violate their contracts.

... In a television interview Thursday, Farrell said she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman. But she added: "I don't think I have the right or anybody has the right to tell somebody who they can or can't love."

2. huh ? is like like "i'm personally against abortion but i don't have a right
to tell others what to do" ?

not that it matters too much since Prejean did not have the crown taken away because of her opinions on these issues. it's because she did not show up for things she had to do as miss california.

3. So, Carrie Precum wasn't fired for being a bigot. Tami Farrell is a bigot, too.
That should take the wind out of the NOMtards' sails.

6. Title is misleading.
The heart of her message isn't what she believes for her own life, but what she believes for the rights of others. And in that she was clear, that it wasn't her right to take another person's right away.

Follows the same logic of:
I don't believe in abortion for myself, but I support the rights of others to have one for whatever reason they determine.
I might be religious, but I don't think I have the right to impose my beliefs on others in life or legislation.
etc, etc, etc.

8. Someone today made a point about that. I forget which show it was on.
How could a beauty pageant contestant be against gays (by being against gay marriage) when gays are directly and heavily involved in their industry in multiple ways?

Gays tend to design the dress she wears.

Gays tend to be the makeup artists that paint her face.

Gays tend to be the hair stylists that do her hair.

Gays tend to be the choreographers for any group dance number.

Gays make up the majority of the audience, both at the event, and watching on TV.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

9. she wants to say 'I have the same opinion as President Obama' and rightfully she now can

unfortunately, President Obama has been late to show up on this issue and is going to be held back a year (you pick which grade - I think most 7th graders are further along than him on this issue). Obama refuses to make some kind of gesture, at the very least, to demonstrate what he said during the campaign was genuine. it's the ol' actions-speak-louder game in action. He figures when he does finally do something, it will become a more grand gesture - but I say it will show he was behind the times and late to the party.... not good leadership when you are so obviously bringing up the rear.

13. She's a beauty pageant winner, not the governor; why would anyone give a damn WHAT she thinks?
They used to stick to "working for world peace", a laudable if unattainable goal for anyone. Is "gay marriage" a new trick question? Since when did people start asking these bubble-heads trick questions?

Yeesh.

Someone please explain to me the real-world significance of whatever is going on inside the head of a beauty pageant winner.

26. We're harping on Ms. California because the media is harping on her. And the media
is harping on her because the MSM is pathetic(the real story here, IMO). And we are sheep, even when the shepherd is a pathetic MSM. We blame it on the media and the media blames it on us, saying we support this kind of thing more than we support stuff from them that actually matters.

21. Well, it seems to me the whole 'beauty pageant' genre
would attract a more conservative type female who believes that the end all and be all for a woman is how they look. Personally, I would think a more liberal female would be more impassioned by education and causes rather than entering into a world where every waking moment would be dedicated to how they look.

That, too, could be part of the uniformity in thinking among the individuals who believe 'marriage is between a man and a woman only' crowd that make up the Miss California candidacy.

23. She agrees with Obama, then.
However, she is a bigoted hayseed bimbo for having that position, while he is a legal and theological genius for saying the very same thing.

Funny how that works.

guided by what he and they think is best for his election, re-election and legacy.

27. Very true. It's all a calculation that there are far more homophobes than homos,
so why not appeal to the former at the expense of the latter?

How hopeful!

24. I think she is being deliberately ambiguous. And I don't think she is pro-gay marriage at all.
Even the Pope says it's fine to have feelings, as long as you don't act on them. At most, she is saying she is not a gay basher.
