Chrysler To Restart 7 Plants
Source: Manufacturing.net

DETROIT (AP) -- Chrysler Group LLC says it will resume making vehicles at seven of its North American factories starting June 29.

All the company's factories were shut down May 4, shortly after it went into Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The company confirmed that factories in Sterling Heights and Warren, Mich.; St. Louis; Toledo, Ohio; Brampton and Windsor, Ontario; and Toluca, Mexico, would restart operations. Production at a Detroit factory resumed Monday.

Parts plants that supply the assembly factories also will restart June 29, the company said.

Most of Chrysler's assets were sold to a new company led by Italian automaker Fiat Group SpA. The new company emerged from bankruptcy protection June 10.

No other details at this point, but good news for Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, Ontario and Toluca.

2. I'm angry that the Government "saved" GM and not Chrisyler.
They should have just done Chrysler.

18. 426hp for $32k
Not bad I guess. The interior is a bit too retro for me but it's vastly better than the generic one Chrysler slapped in the Challenger.

10. That is a badass car!
I love the new Challenger.
I've got a Charger R/T (5.7L V8), and I love every second that I'm behind the wheel. After almost four years, it still gets my blood pumping every time I turn the key.
The Challenger is quite similar, but obviously a bit smaller and lighter. I would LOVE to take a Challenger SRT8 (6.1L V8) for a few laps at Laguna Seca. That would be a huge helping of awesomesauce, two and a quarter miles at a time.

Wait until the Ford fiesta ST hits the US market. (wishful thinking)

12. Look at what is in Short Supply, thus requiring the re-start of these plants
Sterling Heights Michigan makes the Dodge Avenger and Chrysler Sebring midsize cars,

Warren Assembly Michigan and St. Louis North Missouri plants manufacture the Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Toledo Supplier Park Ohio, makes the Jeep Wrangler,

Brampton, Ontario makes the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Challenger.

Windsor Ontario, Canada - Chrysler and Dodge minivans

Toluca Mexico -Dodge Journey crossover and Chrysler PT Cruiser.

13. A dealership down here was advertising PT Cruisers for under $9,000
I don't know what their MSRP is, but that seems like a pretty steep discount.

20. I think they usually start around $17,000-18,000
The PT Cruiser is being discontinued which could explain the cheap price.

An article I read yesterday said something similar; a gas hoggy sports car being the first model to come out since the bankruptcy fiasco.
