Two sources: Supreme Court ruling on U.S. Senate race to arrive tomorrow!
Posted 4:29 pm, June 17th, 2009 by Dan Feidt

PIM has now heard from two sources on different sides of the Minnesota U.S. Senate race recount scene that the final Minnesota Supreme Court ruling is expected to arrive tomorrow, Thursday, June 18th. The ruling could arrive between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., a shift from the earlier deadline of 5 p.m. (The PioPress' Rachel Stassen-Berger said it was because the clerks head out at 4:30.) The official Senate race judicial information page is here, and this is the RSS feed which would likely carry the notification.

PIM was the first to note this as a "rumor/scoop" late yesterday via Twitter. At this point we now believe it is "highly likely" to happen; in fact, based on our sources we'd be surprised if it doesn't. While earlier estimates of 30 days of deliberation got floated, we also heard from someone close to the justices that they would like to move things along quickly, so it's more plausible that things are getting tied up today.

We also heard there's some confidence that the three-judge panel ruling (PDF) was pretty solid and won't get eviscerated by the Minnesota Supreme Court.

2. I wish I had some confidence that that would be the end of it
but somehow, I believe it will get dragged out even longer.

People in Minnesota are too damn nice.

I'd be pissed.

THIS IS WORSE than the 2000 shrubco (s)election.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH MINNESOTA???? SEAT YOUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVE ~ Al Franken ~ (or Norm Colemen, if you so declare) AS YOUR REPRESENTATIVE!!!!!!

Jesus, chose one and "just 'go with it' ( Choose the 'correct'/not corrupt one though ;-) )

9. There's a lot wrong here, starting with Pawlenty and ending with Coleman
and Michelle Bachmann. I was born and raised here, and I don't recognize what this state has become. These effing repukes have really ruined my state.

21. Yep. I don't know what happened.
This used to be a really nice place to live. It still is, except for the repukes.

7. Franken will be seated, and by having worked through the process, can claim full legitimacy
The lasting impression is the one that counts.

8. I think Franken has handled himself very well
during this process. Kudos to him and he needs to be seated like yesterday.

10. Gee, it's not like they rushed it or anything
I really don't understand why they've taken so long. I understand that the legal process takes time BUT you would think with a SENATE SEAT at stake they would move a little faster than this.

I hope they slap down Coleman hard. I guess we just keep our fingers crossed.

11. Yeah but Mr. Blow & Go says he's taking it to the Federal courts!
Is it too much to ask Harry Reid to show some backbone for a change and seat Franken after the decision is made?

12. Governor's office is just a few blocks away
from the Supreme Court. Let's see if Pawlenty makes himself scarce so he won't have to sign on Thursday.

to talk about.

19. OK ... It's now 8:48 CDT, Thursday, June 18th, 2009 ....
4:30PM AND 5:00PM have long past ....

I'm used to being frustrated by the long refusal to seat the good junior Senator of Minnesota, but these kinds of stories are a different kind of frustration ...
