Panel Might Revise Health-Care Bill
Source: NY Times

Senator Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, the top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, said on Sunday that the panel would consider revisiting its version of health-care legislation to gain more support.

An overhaul of the nation’s health-care system was part of President Obama’s campaign pledge to expand coverage to those who do not have health insurance while lowering costs in general. But an initial price tag for the Senate Finance Committee’s proposal came to $1.6 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office. That figure caused enough consternation that the chairman, Senator Max Baucus of Montana, postponed a drafting session that was to have begun this week.

Dianne Feinstein of California joined Republicans in voicing reservations. Ms. Feinstein, who appeared on “State of the Union,” said that controlling the cost of a new health-care system “is a very major and difficult subject.”

Ms. Feinstein also said that Mr. Obama might not have the votes in the Senate to pass his legislation. “I think there’s a lot of concern in the Democratic caucus,” she said.

Friends like these...

I've decided never to cast another vote for Feinstein and to donate to her next primary challenger.

2. Fein "doesn't know" if he has the votes "right now"? It seems to me he doesn't. But that can change.
Some Dem Senators are idiots. How is she going to make that change?

I'm never encouraged by anything Grassley says. He's an idiot - the proof is in his statement that the public option should not pass because it is so desired by the American public that 119 million might sign up.

3. So lets put this shit in perspective.
How much cash was laid out with barely a question asked when Bush decided to invade Iraq.

Where was all this talk about fiscal responsibility when George put his whole administration on future generations dimes.

4. They think within the restraints of parts of systems they wont challenge.
It is as if they set aside a big part, profit for certain groups, then try to build a plan while protecting that.

They may have to make a choice.

Obscure side note: I think 'time' is the alpha and the omega, not a stall.

6. Suddenly the Republicans are being oh so responsible
With our money.

Damn hypocrites.

Where was their so-called responsibility with our money for the illegal Iraq war?

And Feinstein is more DINO than anything else.

I'm with you on what to do to her.
