Iran's Press TV disputes story of Neda's death
Source: CNN

TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) -- The woman whose death has come to symbolize Iranian resistance to the government's official election results did not die the way the opposition claims, government-backed Press TV said Sunday.

Two people told Press TV there were no security forces in the area when Neda Agha-Soltan, 26, was killed on June 20.

Neda's death was captured on amateur video -- most likely by a cell phone -- and posted online. Within hours, she had become the iconic victim of the Iranian government crackdown.

Eyewitnesses say Neda was shot by pro-government Basij militiamen perched on a rooftop.

But Press TV said the type of bullet that killed her is not used by Iranian security forces.

A man who told the state-funded network he had helped take her to a hospital said, "There were no security forces or any member of the Basij" government-backed paramilitary present when she was killed.

2. And I wonder how many Iranians are buying that b.s. story?
The government controls the media for a reason.

This will just piss off people that know the truth even more.

5. My favorite was that the BBC reporter hired her killer
So he could have something interesting for his documentary.

11. I'm sorry, I guess that was a little vague.
What I meant, sarcastically, was how tasteful of the BBC reporter to hire the murderer. I was directing my sarcasm to the reporter, and the BBC, not at you.

13. What about Iran's ambassador to Mexico saying she was shot in the head?
They just can't keep their lies straight...

LA Times: Iran ambassador suggests CIA could have killed Neda Agha-Soltan

=snip=

But it also means folks might overlook Wolf's incredible or incredulous chat today with Mohammad Hassan Ghadiri.

Now who, most people might ask, is MHG? Another nobody CNN scooped off the streets of Washington by CNN bookers to comment on something we didn't know we needed to know about? Well, no. He's the ambassador of Iran to Mexico.

Clearly, MHG was authorized by the Big Bearded Boys back home to say what he said here about the now globally iconic Neda Agha-Soltan, who in her vivid videotaped death has become a part of even American politics.

And MHG chose to speak in Persian so he would not make any career-ending -- or worse -- mistranslations. (NB: Eyewitnesses have said Neda was shot in the chest.)

=snip=

GHADIRI (through interpreter): We say that the bullet that was found in her head was not a bullet that you could find in Iran.

These are the bullets that the CIA and terrorist groups use. Of course they warned that there would be a bloodshed in these demonstrations and then they could attribute that to the Islamic Republic. This is part of a common act of CIA in various countries.

12. F*ck the Iranian "government." Biggest a-holes this side of North Korea.
I really, really hate the Iranian leaders. They have done nothing - NOTHING - for their people since the 1979 revolution.

Which is not surprising. Khomeni was an asshole, and that was clear at the time. So was the shah. So very tragic that the Iranian people have had nothing but garbage in charge of their country.

They deserve better. The "leaders" fear Neda, and they should. Because she will yet bring them down.
