GOP blasts Dems' health care legislation
Source: AP

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats are looking ahead to a health care showdown on the House floor in September following a key committee's passage of sweeping overhaul legislation.

In a sign of the fight ahead, Republicans on Saturday quickly blasted the Democrats' proposals as a "dangerous and costly experiment" that will run up the federal deficit and overwhelm state budgets.

The 31-28 vote in the House Energy and Commerce Committee late Friday was weeks later than either the White House or Democratic leaders had hoped. Nonetheless, it was a triumph for them.

The vote came after weeks of negotiations finally satisfied concerns raised by fiscally conservative Democrats — only to produce a compromise that riled liberals.

Hey, GOP: Lack of health care is the _really_ dangerous, costly experiment, and it's gone on far too long.

1. WE've got the facts -- including cold, hard numbers -- we can't let . . .
'Lican media pressure, insurance company arm-twisting, blue-dog treason, and the inherent stupidity of the conservative base deflect this absolutely essential reform from moving forward.

3. GOP blasts Dem plan
Gee why am I not surprised. At this point that isn't even what I would consider news. Why are the Republicans there they could just post a big sign on their side of the aisle saying 'NO! NO! and NO! Again' and then go home and live the Democrats to get the real work done.

4. Of course they "blast" the Dem plan
GOPers will blast any health care plan coming from the other side, and all Dems and especially Pres Obama should have known this going in.
There was never a glimmer of hope that a friendly bi-partisan bill would emerge, period, end of story.

9. "dangerous and costly" are words that describe..
going down the same private insurance road we've been going down. Projecting what applies to their ideas onto other ideas is something the Repukes love to do.

11. Bush's War On Iraq Is More Costly
Yet, Democrats never point that out.

As always, Republican policies cost more but they always borrow money to pay for it. Ultmately it leads to tax increases in order to pay for those borrowings. Yet, Republicans blame Democrats for those deficits and for the tax increases.

The pattern never changes.
