Dingell forum on health care reforms gets raucous

U.S. Rep. John Dingell was greeted with jeers and cheers today as he tried to explain why changing the nation’s health care system — as he has advocated for more than a half-century in Congress — makes sense.

Dingell, 81, told a health care forum he sponsored in Romulus that the legislation won’t pay for abortions, as some protesters said it would.

“There will be no payment of taxpayer funds for abortion,” he said.

As Dingell tried to begin the forum, Mike Sola, of Milan, interrupted the congressman repeatedly as he pushed his son, Scott, in a wheelchair, to the podium. He said proposed changes wouldn’t help Scott and called Dingell a fraud.

Even before the town hall began in Romulus, opponents of President Barack Obama’s health plan engaged supporters.

...our reps give a rip what us little people think; they're nothing but fluff and photo-ops. It's money that drives politicians' decisions, not the needs of the country. So it's almost comical watching a bunch of right-wing idiots trying to disrupt these meaningless non-events. On the other hand, most of our Dem reps are so utterly lacking in any type of conviction, and are so spineless, that they're probably pissing their pants - so who knows what affect it might have. It's so fucked up on so many levels.

Nevertheless, the guy with the son in a wheel-chair is probably right about one thing, but for the wrong reasons; this health-care "reform" is shaping up to be another massive corporate give-away, and it probably won't help his son. But the Republicans would throw his son under the wheels of the bus, drive over him, back up, and drive over him again - all without giving it a second thought. Most of these protesters are too damned dumb to realize that they're cheering for their own demise. It's a freak show.

It's beyond hope. The country should just split along three ideological lines, slam the borders shut, and be done with it. They can have Palin for their president, we'll elect Kucinich, and the "moderates" can elect the likes of Obama, Evan Bayh, Max Baucus, & Rahm Emanuel... and they can go that route until they reach the point where they merge with Palin-land (because within maybe 20 years there would be no difference between their country and Palin-land).
