Protesters want UC Berkeley law professor (Yoo) fired
Source: Associated Press

Police have arrested at least four people during a protest at the University of California, Berkeley campus.

Campus police made the arrests as protesters gathered Monday outside the UC Berkeley School of Law to call for the dismissal of John Yoo.

He's scheduled to begin teaching there after spending the spring semester at Chapman University School of Law in Orange County.

3. Good. People like him can only teach what not to do.
And I doubt he's doing that

8. Why Berkeley Want To Become "Torture U" Is Puzzling.
This should be a no-brainer. They're risking the franchise coddling this criminal.

13. Dianne Feinstein's husband is on the UC Board of Regents

which is probably how Yoo got the job in the first place. Blum (Feinstein's hubby) received many government defense contracts under the Bush Admin and Blum has close relations with the Carlyle Group.

12. I used to live about 100 feet from there
In the International House on the other side of Piedmont. Used to be you had to walk all the way to Sproul Plaza about half a mile further at least for a good protest (or a bad one), now they're (appropriately) coming up the hill. They're quite out of their usual neighborhood. I'd have shaken my fist a few times while passing by.

I *feel* like saying that, in general, Cal students didn't mix with the locals when it came to politics (as of 2002), but I realize that would be unfair to the students. Having attended a small liberal arts college on the East Coast for grad school, I realize now what apathy truly is. The Berkeley student body is raucous compared to most, but still sedentary compared to the Berkeley locals.
