Statement from The Kennedy Family
August 26, 2009

"Edward M. Kennedy -- the husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle we loved so deeply -- died late Tuesday night at home in Hyannis Port.

"We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever.

"We thank everyone who gave him care and support over this last year, and everyone who stood with him for so many years in his tireless march for progress toward justice, fairness and opportunity for all.

"He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it.

"He always believed that our best days were still ahead, but it's hard to imagine any of them without him."

4. The grief and sadness
many of us are feeling this morning is compounded tenfold by that of the Kennedy family. Senator Kennedy was the head, the heart, and the spirit of that remarkable family. My thoughts and prayers go out to them.

5. He was an inspiration. I saw him on TV not too long ago, smiling in the
midst of his sister's death and his illness. As someone who has been treated for cancer, I find his courage inspiring.

And he did perservere through so much sorrow and tragedy. God bless him.

6. aww man....what a soul
My mom is taking it much harder than I am, since the Kennedy's are more around her generation, but this isn't easy for me either, not by a long shot.

...The lion sleeps tonight...RIP to the whole Kennedy clan come before us.

7. It feels like an end of an era.
I am so sad. Teddy carried the torch of the Kennedy idealism for this country and the world.

What a sad, sad day.

8. a very sad day
god this is killing me. I remember when JFK was shot and killed and it was a school assignment for me to watch the convention in Los Angeles that fateful night that RFK was shot and killed.

And we had Ted.

For all of those years, yes we had Ted.

Thank you god for putting this man on earth. He did so very much.

May Ted Kennedy rest in peace! O8) O8) O8)

Our best days are ahead. And that's why his life and work matter so much.
