Pennsylvania Mother Accused of Faking Abduction Pleads Guilty, Gets Jail Time

RICHBORO, Pa. — A suburban Philadelphia woman accused of faking an abduction and running off to Disney World with her 9-year-old daughter will spend nine to 24 months in prison.

Thirty-eight-year-old Bonnie Sweeten pleaded guilty Thursday in Bucks County Court to identity theft and making false reports to police.

Authorities say the white mother of three called 911 on May 26 and said she and her daughter had been abducted by two black men. Prosecutors say she instead used a stolen driver's license to fly to Florida and check into a Disney hotel.

Sweeten's father, William Siner, attacked a group of cameramen outside the courtroom, slamming one into a wooden bench. Authorities detained Siner after the scuffle. It was not immediately clear if he would be charged.

Federal authorities are also investigating allegations Sweeten stole money from family members and an employer.

she will be in bucks county prison, in PA u must have more than a 2 year sentence to be shipped to a state prison.

bucks county is real rich & has nicer criminals than the ones u meet upstate or in philly.

A pretty easy sentence AFAIAC, when they go after her for her thieving she may goto muncy.

Upper Bucks is landed gentry, but lower Bucks county
is working class neighborhoods like Bristol and Feasterville.
They have more than their share of drug/gang violence and racial tension.

I served on a jury in Doylestown, the county seat.
Sure Doylestown is upper crust, and lots'o' yuppies,
but the local prison isn't full of white collar criminals...

Many jailed in Bucks are those who floated up from
Philly or down from NYC looking for an easy roll.

And the Bucks county police aren't your 'white glove' guys..

The 'accused' in the trial I sat in on was not only handcuffed,
he was manacled, dressed in oversized prison orange;
he was scared to death. He was a racial minority in
a white locality.

The Bucks County DA is a bitch on wheels.. pardon my french.
NO games, no 'nice-nice' and unless you're a cousin of the
governor, no crap. She cuts no deals with nobody,
no 'second chances.'

This Sweeten woman was 'in' way over her head, and none too bright.
she worked for a woman lawyer with questionable ethics,
and who denied any implication in her crime.

The 'blame the black guys' ploy I hoped someone would jump on;
she needs not only to pay for her embezzlement of her father-in-laws
savings (why she ran), but also for attempting to play the race card.
