Officers and directors could receive that sum at year's end, assuming Cingular and its parents SBC Communications Inc. and BellSouth Corp. uphold their agreement to buy AT&T Wireless for $15 a share, according to a filing by Redmond, Wash.-based AT&T Wireless with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Layoffs loom at AT&T WirelessThe company raised the total number of anticipated job cuts to 1,900 in its third-quarter filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, 800 of which it said had occurred by Sept. 30. It took a $10 million "restructuring charge" that quarter to cover the separations' costs and an additional $31 million charge in last year's fourth quarter. Rowe said the number of employees who left or were laid off last quarter won't be revealed until next month.
