Sarah Palin making first trip to Asia in September

HONG KONG — Former U.S. vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, once questioned about her lack of foreign policy experience, will make her first trip to Asia in September.

The former Alaska governor will visit Hong Kong to address the CLSA Investors Forum, a well-known annual conference of global investment managers, the host announced Monday.

Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Alan Greenspan have spoken at the event, hosted by brokerage and investment group CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets.

"Our keynote speakers are notable luminaries who often address topics that go beyond traditional finance such as geopolitics," company spokeswoman Simone Wheeler said in a statement.

She said the conference aimed to present investors "a diversity of views that potentially influence decision-makers who help shape the markets."

Palin made $125,000 a year as governor of Alaska. The former vice presidential candidate, who famously struggled with international topics during her 2008 run, has not indicated what topic she'll discuss during her first trip to Asia.

The event will be closed to the media.

1. Assuming she does not deny accepting the invitation, they're in for a real treat.
Closed to the media? Wonder why?

The Comedy Network must have been very disappointed.

31. Are they going to confiscate all mobile phones with video capability?
Because her speech is still going to be on-line within 20 seconds of it being over unless they don't allow any electronic devices into the meeting.

Pretty amazing that anyone still thinks shutting out the press is going to keep your event out of the public eye.

4. Why does anybody care? She's not even governor any more.

I hate the way the MSM latches onto some people and decides that they're "celebrities." Famous for being famous. This woman was barely relevant even as VP candidate. Now she's an irrelevant has-been governor, but we're going to be subjected to "news" about her until the end of fucking time.

Really!

Like her lack of experience on foreign policy and a range of other things is not questioned any more. What's this "once" crap?

What's she gonna muse about at this global investment getaway? How moose shot from an airplane can make great stew? How to Twitter? Abstinence Only?

41. You only get "policy experience" if you're in a position to make policy
Last I checked, former politicians are not in that position. Why in HELL is the press describing the shit that comes out of her mouth as "policy statements"?

I have more experience in foreign policy, having helped to create some of it, than Sarah Palin does. And I've BEEN to Asia.

By sending her to Asia, they are in danger of having her learn something about the world. The less ignorant she is, the less appeal she is going to have to the ignorant, who are really her base.
