Curt Schilling Potentially Pitches Himself as Kennedy Successor
Source: ABC News

ABC News’ David Chalian: How about this windup? Red Sox nation hero Curt Schilling is apparently mulling the idea of jumping into the Massachusetts special election to replace the late Sen. Ted Kennedy.

According to an interview Schilling conducted with NECN’s Brad Puffer, he says he has been contacted by people whose opinions he respect and has listened to the idea of getting into the race.

The World Series winning right-hander is a committed Republican who endorsed and campaigned for George W. Bush in 2004 and Sen. John McCain in 2007.

Mr. Schilling provided a hearty laugh in the interview when asked if he was considering a run. He then went on to say he doesn’t know right now if he will take the plunge. “I have a lot on my plate so as of today, probably not. I don’t know going forward. That is a pretty big deal from a commitment standpoint. I’m not even going to speculate on it right now,” said Schilling.

4. Curt Schilling's the male version of Sarah Palin.
First, he's an idiot. Second, he's got the same mindless, un-self-aware, incredible self confidence. Third, he loves grandstanding and the lime-light.

My whole life I was huge Red Sox fan. Though I was glad they won in 2004 it was a little bittersweet, since Schilling tried to take credit for everything good that happened. And that "bloody" sock thing was just ridiculous.

My worst nightmare is the Palin/Schilling presidency.

5. If you had a bad taste as a Red Sox fan
imagine how bad it was to be a liberal Yankee fan that time. First, the ALCS, then the '04 elections. Ugh:puke:

10. He's a douche. I couldn't stand him when he played for the D-Backs.
Unfortunately, Gonzo is also a Republican but at least he's a nice guy.

Shonda), and you sound as if you know him, too. You post is dead on! Heaven help us if he, or Shonda (who also had political aspirations), ever gets elected to any public office.

Edited to add: Believe me, I'm not proud to know him.

14. Ugh. Just what the Senate needs--a Bunning clone.
Enough of asshole Republican baseball pitchers in the Senate. One is one too many, and the quota's full.

18. I hope he gets into the race. This guys head is filled with rocks and anything
coming from the right that will be an entertaining train wreck is fine with me. I mean they are talking Andy Card, Scott Brown, and Kerry Healey as candidates? Boring!

20. We already have an ignorant, loudmouthed ex-Phillies pitcher in the Senate.
His name is Jim Bunning, and he is an embarrassment.

21. Not sure, but I don't think Schilling even made it past his first year in junior college.
Where he majored in playing baseball and video games.

Schilling is a shallow conservative wacko that is not even qualified enough to be a County Commissioner, let alone take over the Senate seat of a great humanitarian public servant like Senator Kennedy.

23. I believe I posted a thread a short while back about why this absolutely
would never, ever, ever, ever, EVER happen.

Massachusetts residents hate Curt Schilling, World Series notwithstanding. That sanctimonious prick.
