GREEN —
Diebold has sold its controversial U.S. election systems business to competitor Election Systems & Software, a leading company in the election systems industry.

The sale closed Wednesday and consists primarily of Diebold’s Allen, Texas-based subsidiary, Premier Election Solutions.

Diebold has agreed to sell the business for $5 million in cash, plus payments representing 70 percent of any cash collected on outstanding accounts that were receivable as of Aug. 31.

Diebold expects to recognize a pre-tax loss in the range of $45 million to $55 million as a result of the transaction. The pre-tax loss includes the assets and liabilities of the business, certain retained legal liabilities, and other transaction costs.

2. Wouldn't this have to have approval because ES&S now has a monopoly?

4. Who owns Sequoia?
I think there's a few other companies out there... not as well known (or notorious) as ES&S and Diebold though.

7. Damn...
It is amazing what was managed by a true grass-roots movement. ES&S are damned stupid for buying the company,as they are now simply smearing Diebold all over themselves, which can't help their reputation.

8. Diebold unloads voting machine albatross
Source: CNN Money

Diebold Inc. said Thursday it has sold its voting machine business to Election Systems & Software, Inc., in a deal that could result in a $55 million loss for the ATM maker.

Premier Election Solutions, Inc., the subsidiary that makes up the bulk of Diebold's voting machine business, will be sold to Election Systems & Software for $5 million plus payments representing 70% of any cash collected on Premier's outstanding accounts receivable as of Aug. 31.

Diebold said it expects to suffer a pre-tax loss in the range of $45 million to $55 million related to the sale.

Diebold entered the election systems business in 2002, when it purchased Global Election Systems, Inc. But it began looking for "strategic alternatives to ownership" for the business in 2006.

10. and, Diebold and ES&S are truly 2 different entities?
honestly grown & separate companies which developed 'voting machines', without seed money from radical Dominionist strongman (borrowing use of the MSM's method of labeling, er, branding, someone) Howard Ahmanson .. and, they didn't 'split off' into 2 entities, Diebold and ES&S (the latter was the one which involved Chuck Hagel) ... and, weren't really the same entity, in reality, that 'split off' (for appearances?) ??? The Urosevich Brothers 'coincidentally' each worked for each of the 'companies': Selling Diebold's vote stealing machine 'biz' to ES&S does what exactly?

re: the Urosevich brothers, Bob and Todd

April 28, 2004

Two voting companies & two brothers will count 80 percent of U.S. election using both scanners & touchscreens

"Bob Urosevich is currently president of Diebold. Todd is vice president of ES&S. In 1999, American Information Systems (AIS), purchased Business Records Corporation (BRC) to become ES&S. AIS (1980) was formerly Data Mark (1979). Both AIS and Data Mark were founded by the brothers Urosevich. In 2002, Diebold acquired Global Election Systems. Global was founded in 1991, which itself acquired the AccuVote system the same year. Bob Urosevich is a past president of Global."

back to the sidelines...
