WH to release education speech early
Source: MSNBC

From NBC's Chuck Todd
The White House is releasing the full text of the president's speech to students on Monday -- a full 24 hours before President Obama delivers the speech live at noon ET a local Arlington, VA, high school. Obviously, this means parents and teachers will have plenty of time to read the text of the speech and decide for themselves about the content.

1. Be sure to check it for hidden socialist messages
Check the first letter of every line. Try every third letter. And don't forget to try the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 13th, 21st, ... words in sequence -- I hear they might contain a secret brainwashing text.

That's the thing on the BB's around here now, listening to the speeches backwards. Some people never learn. I put up a youtube of Katy Perry's "I kissed a girl", lol, they totally ignored it.

10. I think its a bad move, it shows the white house is paying attention to those nut jobs on the right
(which allows them into polite society)and it will only go and encourage them to do more of the same into the future.

17. I think it's a smart move.
Simply tell them the truth, respectfully, and then the decision to keep kids away from it is at least at some level a choice based solely on paranoia or unreasoning hatred. Poor kids; it's like selective homeschooling. Heck, record one one a week, release the text, make it nothing but encouraging and positive, and then let them deny that they don't want thir kids to see it simply because they have decided, based on nothing, that Obama wants to...what was the word.."grab" our kids.

29. I agree, it is a smart move...
His focus is on the students and NOT on playing the students against the haters. Releasing his speech takes one more weapon away from them and at no cost to the students who, again, are his focus.

18. I live in VA and made the mistake of joining my coworkers at lunch
today. These are supposedly all college-educated professionals, but the wingnuttery was in full bloom. 5 people out of 7 were going on and on about how they didn't want Obama telling their kids socialist stuff, talking about healthcare, and why the heck was the prez addressing schoolkids anyway? Only the parents oughta be talkin to their kids!!!!

And they wonder why I only sit with them twice a year. There was no convincing them, either -- I and another woman tried. These people are not only stupid and brainwashed, but dangerous. I truly think we are headed for a civil war in this ignorant POS country.

27. Ask them where George W. Bush was during 9/11.
It is absolutely routine for a president to address and even visit school children.

This is racism pure and simple and you should call them on it. They did not object when a white president spoke to school children.

20. Wow. It's almost as if someone in The White House watches the media and rapidly responds to stuff.
This is not a "tone-deaf" President.

This is not a President "in a bubble."

Oh, yeah.

He's got this.

21. I wonder if the title is "My Pet Goat"
seriously, :wtf: is wrong with these people?

I think releasing the speech is a good thing. When they see it doesn't touch healthcare or anything beyond 'go to school,' 'get good grades,' 'apply yourself' etc. they'll know what fools they are.

Assuming, of course, they're able to read it. Maybe he needs to release the video to the Illiterati first.

Do all Conservative parents use their children for political statements? I mean...c'mon!

I wonder if non-watchers will get picked on or vise versa.

32. My child's school will not show it and I am livid.
This is their statement:

XXX District is pleased that it will have the opportunity to tape President Barack Obama’s speech scheduled on Tuesday, September 8TH, 2009. The District will record it and apply the standard process for reviewing instructional materials; and make it available as a supplement to instruction to enhance established Sunshine State Standards. Tuesday will be a normal day of instruction.”

First of all I am angry that they are using my child as a political pawn to satisfy the demands of RW nuts. Secondly, this is censorship of someone they disagree with politically and it is discrimination due to political views IMO. I think I will call our local ACLU office to ask about this. How can they can away with this? What about an opt-out waiver for people who want to keep their kids from seeing the President's speech? Why should all kids be prevented from seeing this just because some object on political grounds??
