Obama administration resists efforts to reveal information on terrorist watch list
Source: Washington Post

WASHINGTON | The Obama administration wants to maintain the secrecy of terrorist watch-list information it routinely shares with federal, state and local agencies.

Rights groups say that if White House officials get their way, it would make it difficult for people who have been improperly included on such lists to challenge the government.

Intelligence officials in the administration are pressing for legislation that would exempt “terrorist identity information” from disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act. Such information — which includes names, aliases, fingerprints and other biometric identifiers — is widely shared with law enforcement agencies and intelligence “fusion centers,” which combine state and federal counterterrorism resources.

Some officials say public disclosure of watch-list data risks could help suspected terrorists evade surveillance.

1. That freaking
terrorist watch list is such a joke. They have misidentified so many people, grandmothers, babies, soldiers shipping out. Why, it is my understanding that the late Senator Ted Kennedy was even stopped. If it could happen to him, it could happen to anyone. The system is obviously broken. Another disappointment from the White House.

4. Sure, lets just reveal all our intelligence secrets. Are you that naive?
I can't believe some of you folks. Some things you just accept as being required for public saftey.

7. Most, if not all, of our so-called intelligence is known...

to our supposed enemies.

The truly sensitive intelligence are those "secrets" the American people can't know.

Public safety! How naive can you be...

Preserving their empire and bamboozling the taxpayers, consumers and the world are their only priority.

Cupidity is their only religion and we, all of us, are their victims.

Public safety, what a concept!

11. You are assuming that the Obama admin is using the same criteria for this as the Bush admin did
Without verifying that, there may indeed have been a change.
